Natural Smile.

Chapter 10- Natural Smile. :

  During the movie, I could sense Alec sneaking glances at me. I tried paying attention to the movie plot, but it is hard when you have someone constantly looking at you. I tried though.

  When we ran out of popcorn -(all four of us were eating it) - I went to the kitchen to pop some more.

  I walked into the kitchen and flipped the light switch. I walked over to the microwave, grabbed a bag of popcorn, and put it in the microwave.

  I turned around to sit down and jumped.

  In the doorway stood Gran. She walked over to stand in front of me.

  "I'm sorry for startling you Mel, but I need to talk to you," she said.

  "About what?" I asked, unsure of why she wanted to talk.

  "About your Aunt," she said.

  "Oh, alright." We walked over to sit down at the table.

  "What did you say her name was?" she asked.

  "Christa Jackson," I stated.

  "Ah, yes......yes, that's what I thought, I knew that your face looked familiar, I seen your momma and her around these parts awhile ago. I'm sorry if this bothers you,but you......you look like her hun," she said, this wasn't a surprise though, my mom and aunt knew everybody and their brother.

  "I know, it hurts that I look like her, everytime that I look in a mirror, I see her," I looked down when I said this.

  "Your Momma was a beauty for sure, I can understand why my boy is under your spell," she chuckled at this.

  "Under what spell?" I asked.

  "He likes you Mel. In a way, you make him feel again," she explained.

  What she doesn't know is that he makes me feel again too. Except I can't put a name to whatever feeling this is.

 
  "Okay, enough talking about this. How about we talk about some possible get to know you girl time, yeah?" Gran asked after awhile.

  I was a little taken aback by the question, but answered her anyway,"Sure, what did you have in mind?" I asked.

  "I could take you around town and we could stop at some places and shop. That is, if you would like to," she offered.

  "I would love to Gran," I said.

  I grabbed the popcorn out of the microwave and we both walked back to the living room.

  As soon as we sat down and opened the bag of popcorn, Gramps pressed play.

  When the movie was over, we watched the second Guardians of the Galaxy.

  After the movie, we started working around the sleeping arrangements. I did not think about that one.

  "She could sleep in Holly's old room," Gran said. Alec was out of the room so he didn't hear.

  "She could sleep in that guest room," Gramps said. They were just shooting out ideas.

  "How about we let her decide Billy," Gran stated, patting his knee.

  They both looked at me, I was beside them on the couch.

  "Alright, that's a fine idea."

  We headed up to the second floor. The first door that Gran headed to was across from the bathroom. She opened the door and I gasped.

  It was beautiful, I was starstruck, amazed, and other words for surprised. There was a twin sized bed in the corner with purple bedding. There was a window seat by the window overlooking the extraordinary farmland. There were posters on the wall, there was a dresser with a mirror. I noticed that there was a jewellery box. When I walked inside the room more, I saw a walk in closet on the wall opposite of the bed.

  This was better than before, much better. Before my brain processed it, I said it,"I'll take this room."

  "I knew you would hun," Gran said in the doorway. I went over to the dresser. I opened the jewellery box and seen all kinds of jewellery.

  "I didn't know what to do with some of her stuff, she was about your size. You can have and use the stuff if you want hun," she said, sadly. She walked over and hugged me.

  I smiled, a real, unforced smile. I've forced smiles for so long, it felt good. I smiled earlier, but it was somewhat forced. This though, this smile was genuine and natural. I was happy, and that's.............wow. (Sigh)
