Chapter 7 - Kansas. :
I woke up to someone shaking my shoulders. Again. I slowly opened my eyes to (again) dark brown eyes.
I looked around to find out that we were the last ones on the plane.I slowly stood up and reached up to the baggage holder thingy to grqqab my luggage only to find that Alec had it. I gave him a look that I haven't given anyone in awhile. I was my 'don't try me' look.
He ignored my look and walked down the aisle. He's the only person in the world that ignored my look. No one has ever ignored it. Ever. What is about this guy?
After standing there stunned for a second, I followed him out into the daylight.
When I got outside, he was at the bottom of the steps waiting for me. I reached the bottom and he smiled at me, there was that feeling again. Ugh, I hate not knowing what this is!
We entered the airport and went to where people held name signs to find people. We both started looking for one that said Johnson. I spotted the sign. It was held by an elderly man who I assumed was Alec's grandpa.
I nudged Alex's shoulder and pointed to where I saw the man holding the sign. When he saw the man, he had a large smile plastered on his face.
As soon as he smiled, the feeling in the pit of my stomach appeared again.
I ignored the feeling and followed him over to the older man.
When we got to the man, Alec and him embraced in a warm hug. Now that I think about it, I haven't had anyone hug me since......well...since then.
After they separated from their hug, the man finally noticed me. He gave his grandson a questioning look.
"And who might this be Alec?" he asked.
"Oh, I'm guessing gran didn't tell you. This is Melanie Adams, she's gonna be living with us until she can get on her feet," Alec said, turning his handsome smile at me.
"I'll have to have a talk with your grandmother," he muttered.
He looked at me and smiled, reaching out his hand for me to shake. I shook his hand then he said,"I would like to get to know you more Melanie, but we've got to get back to the house, Linda's makin' fried chicken for dinner."
Yum, a home cooked meal sounded good right about now. ESPECIALLY fried chicken.

We all got in a blue pickup truck and pulled onto the highway. We drove on the highway for a ways before turning onto a dirt road.
I looked out the window. I stared at the seemingly endless, green fields. I stared at the trees and the grass.
I feel.....free. All of those years being on my own, I never felt free, but being here in the country, I felt the feeling of freedom. It was nice. I felt numb for so long. It felt good to......to feel.
I watched as we turned down a long driveway. All that I could see from the end of the driveway was the barn.
As we got closer to the other end of the driveway, I could see all kinds of animals and I could see the farm house.
When Alec said that this was a big farm, he was underexagerating, it was huge.
I couldn't imagine the time that I would have while living here. It would be so different from before.

Alec's P.O.V. (this P.O.V. goes back to when they were on the airplane to where they are driving to the farm)
