Dear Shay,
Believe me when I say, friendships and relationships are overrated. But! There are a few exceptions. There are some friends that step into your life and all of a sudden that switch flips on, immediately sparking up that light that you never knew you had. And all of a sudden everything becomes semi-perfect and all that glitter and sparkle and rainbows just magically appear.
Poppop told me that during his time there were no 'friends'. He categorized them as 'jolly old rockers', but when he explains it, they still mean friends. Dad? He ain't got friends either; they're just his associates, since 'the company of friends is the beginning of downfall'. Hey, his words, not mine.
I want to be different, though. But nobody I've come across so far seems like friend material. Call me choosy, but it's the gospel truth. I know I'll meet that special friend, but it's scary, putting it all out there. But I'm still hopeful, though. Like I said in my previous letter, is it bad to not hope?
Yours always,
Kimmy K.
