IN THEIR ROOM, ROSIE AND TANYA SAT AT the foot of the only bed in the room. Rosie tosses a coin, and Tanya looks on expectantly. The coin landed, making Rosie cheer, picks up the inflatable mattress and throws it to Tanya, who, with a look of thunder, begins to blow it up, annoyed that she lost, now having to blow up the bed, which she did not enjoy doing. As Rosie comically beganto unpack, laughing at her friend, Tanya began to get very red in the face, losing air from the blow up bed.
"Go on, girl! Blow it up!" Rosie tells Tanya. Having enough, Tanya changed the subject, with her hands on her hips.
"Let's see what you're wearing for the wedding, then." Tanya huffs at Rosie.
The shorted woman sings jokingly and pulls out a pair of camoflauge shorts, "tuh, dah!"
"You. Are. Joking." Tanya breathed, not believing what she saw.
"What? Go on, say it!"
"You could have been making a statement on the duty of wedlock."
Rosie chuckles, "well, you'd know more about it than me." Referencing Tanya's once too many divorces.
"Oh darling, you'll meet your Mister Right," Tanya told her friend.
"Oh, I have. I do. And all they want to do is settle down and have babies. Argghh! No thanks!" Rosie exclaimed, not liking the idea of being tied down and having children and all the crap she thought was nonsense.
"No. Children can become such subversive little sods. I mean, who'd have thought that Donna - an icon of female independence - would have a daughter getting spliced at 20!" Tanya said while putting her hand over her heart.
It was then Donna barged through the door in a rather distraught state. "Wheres Ari and Sophie?" She asked her two friends who shrugged,
"I haven't seen them, why?" Rosie asked puzzeled.
"I need to find them, now!" She then ran to the bed, with Rosie and Tanya following. "This has to be a joke. Any minute I'm gonna wake up and they'll all have gone away." Donna muttered to herself, burying her head into the pillow.
"What is it?" Tanya asks,
"Nothing. Leave me alone. I can't talk about it. I knew this would happen! Of course it was gonna come out now. It had to. Oh God, why was I such a stupid little eejit?" Donna put her head in her hands, while Rosie and Tanya looked at each other, still questioning what had happened to get Donna into such a state.
Donna let's out a frustrated sob, "It’s their dad."
"Who's dad?"
"Sophie and Ari's ! You know how I always said it was Sam. Sam, the architect who ran home to get married!" Donna explained.
"Typical bloody man," Rosie rolled her eyes.
"Well, I’m not really sure that it was him... You see, there were a couple of others." Donna said, while biting her lip looking down.
"Donna Sheridan! You dark horse!" Tanya gasped, "Hey! Why didn’t you tell us?"
"I didn’t think I’d ever have to. I didn’t think that all three would be sitting in my bar the day before their daughter’s wedding, seeing them both!" Donna tried to tell them, as the two sympathied with her.
"Well, they got two for the price of one didn't they, not only got one kid but two," Rosie joked, unaware on the glare on Donna's face. "Wait, they're in the bar?!" Both Tanya and Rosie rushed over to the window, shocked. "I can’t see anyone. Where are they?"
"Donna, are you sure?" Tanya asked, skeptical.
"Of course I’m sure! You think I’d forget my daughter’s dads? Sam, Bill Austin, and Harry Headbanger. Ye Gods! Why have they all turned up now? It’s like some horrible trick of fate."
Rosie scrunched up her face, "Gods! It’s very Greek," she said dramatically. " Do they know?" Tanya questioned Donna.
"No, I never told anyone. I mean, why are they here ruining Sophie’s wedding and getting into Ariana's life?"
"I thought you weren’t keen on this wedding..." Tanya looked at Donna, confusion throughout her face.
"I won’t let them spoil things. They have no right to turn up like this. I mean, what have they ever done for their daughters?" Donna stood up determinedly.
"Donna! Be fair. They didn’t even know the girls existed!" Rosie tried to get Donna to understand.
"They don’t need to know. I’ve done a bloody good job of raising Sophie and Ari all by myself and now..." Tears welled up in the woman's eyes, and her two friends tried to comfort her.
"Look. Tonight’s a male free zone at the hen night, and then tomorrow Tanya and I will take them fishing," Rosie tried to get Donna to reason with her.
"Fishing? Oh please." Tanya said, almost as though she wished Rosie was joking.
"Oh, what else do you suggest we do with three men?" Rosie put her hands on her hips.
"Now that does take me back," Tanya said thoughtfully while both women looked in confusion and disgust.
Rosie shook her head and turned back to her tearful friend, "you dumb bat! You should have told us!"
"Oh, I suppose this just about serves me right."
"Oh God, you sound just like your mother!" Rosie laughed at Donna.
"I do not!" Donna stood up, feeling a bit offended.
"You do! What ever happened to Donna; the life and soul of the party and rock chick supremo"
"Oh, she grew up, that’s all." Donna breathed, wishing she could go back to the good times in her life.
"Grow back down again. You’ve done nothing to be ashamed of." Tanya told Donna happily,
"Screw ‘em if they can’t take a joke!" Both girls shouted in unison pulling Donna up.
"You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen
Friday night and the lights are low Looking out for the place to go Where they play the right music, getting in the swing You come in to look for a king Anybody could be that guy Night is young and the music's high With a bit of rock music, everything is fine You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance...
You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen
You're a teaser, you turn 'em on Leave them burning and then you're gone Looking out for another, anyone will do You're in the mood for a dance And when you get the chance...
You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen"
