Chapter 4

When the bell rang for lunch I got up nervously. I wondered if Samuel had been serious about having lunch with me. What if it turned out he was just kidding? Maybe he really did want all the notes from biology, I don't know why I got myself so excited, I was being dumb! The whole past hour I had imagined stupid little scenarios in my head that would most likely not even occur.

Still, I took a deep breath and walked outside the class wondering if I was supposed to meet him somewhere? I was surprised when I found him already waiting for me, leaning back against the lockers looking mighty fine.

Wow, how was it possible for him to look so good just standing there?

I found myself smiling at him, I have no clue why but my lips just seemed out of my command, I couldn't stop the stupid grin from forming on my face. This caused him to smile widely back at me, "Hello again Bria," he said as I met him.

"Hello Samuel," I said just as casually, it was like if had known each other before.

"How was your class?" he asked taking my backpack and sliding it on his shoulder. I almost felt my cheeks heat up "You don't have to carry my bag, its super heavy" I said trying to get it back.

He laughed "It really is, I bet its filled with textbooks huh you little nerd," he teased making me laugh "I like school," I shrugged.

"I knew it, you have that ms know it all look on your face"  he said with a huge grin. "I don't know it all," I laughed lightly as we began to walk towards the cafeteria.

"No? What's the capitol of Georgia?" he asked.

"Atlanta," I answered.

"See! Know it all," he smiled.

"You gave me an easy one!" I objected.

He laughed more and put his hand on the small of my back leading me through the crowd of kids, "So tell me about your class," he said. I couldn't answer him, all I could focus on was the fact that his hand was on me, and that despite me wearing a huge coat I could feel his warmth through it. I could also see all the female shifters giving me narrowed looks, they began to whisper to one another as we passed the, but Samuel seemed oblivious.

"It was fine, pretty boring actually" I replied keeping my eyes on the floor, I hoped this didn't start any rumors. He was so close to me I could smell his cologne, he smelled great! Like the woods.

Did you just smell him, God Bria, my inner voice groaned.

"I had history, it really isn't my favorite subject" he said making me smile, why did this feel...normal? I would have expected it to feel a little awkward, I mean, I barely knew the guy. For some strange reason I felt well...comfortable with him, like if he had been my friend for a long time now.

Get a grip Bria, you've only known the guy for a couple hours, my inner voice scoffed.

We kept a casual chatter about our classes when we entered the cafeteria, it had started to rain outside which meant that we were all forced to stay inside the room. We made our way to get food when I stopped. I hadn't been in the lunch line in forever! I limited myself from coming into the cafeteria, yeah, the food sucked and it was mainly too greasy pizza and frozen sandwiches, but it was still food.

Sam turned to look at me, "Is something wrong?" he asked.

I shook my head, "Oh no," I smiled at him "Are you going to get in line?" I asked although we were already in it. "Yeah, I'm starving!" he said.
