Chapter 11

Bria P.O.V

It took a very long time, but dad and I were managing to clean most of the kitchen up. I wore a mask over my mouth and nose so I wouldn't inhale any of the dust. Dad had called some of his friends so they could help him cover up the enormous hole on the wall.

They all were shifters and once they saw the size of the wall they didn't even question it, they knew my mother had shifted and burst out of here. It was very common according to them for houses to get messed up all the time by the wolfs.

Common or not, it still had me a little freaked out. Dad and I hadn't really talked much after that, he was too busy trying to cover up the wall as fast as he could before the sun went down.

I cleaned up quietly with a broom, thinking of everything that had happened. I knew mom would react this way, something inside of told me. A deep part of me, a very deep part, was smug about this whole thing. I had a mate and she didnt, good, I thought.

I knew it wasn't her fault, who knew what had happened to her mate, but it didn't give her the right to treat my dad and I like crap. If she was so bitter then why did she bother getting married and having kids for? She should've just stayed alone. It was a horrible way to think, I know.

I looked up when dad and the other wolf's stopped, they had covered most of the wall up with new material, he gave me a small smile "Well it's better than nothing right?" he asked me. I gave him a thumbs up, whatever kept the cold away. I was impressed, they worked so fast and had everything done before the sun had set.

I finished cleaning and headed outside to our backyard, I looked out to the woods, I wondered where mom had gone? Was she even going to come back? I knew she had to, she couldn't stay in wolf form for a long time.

I sighed and sat down on the grass, she was crazy, did it really bother her that much that I had mated?

I pulled my legs to my chest and thought about her words, there was no way I could reject Sam. I just couldn't, I know I didnt want to reject him. Sure, I didn't have a wolf but I had no doubt in my heart that I was his true mate.

I scoffed in my head, there was no other girl, I was his mate.

I thought of that Samuel Owens, if I wasn't his mate then he wouldn't have chosen me. Right? This whole mating thing was all new to me, you heard stories everywhere but it was so different for me.

I felt a hand wrap around my shoulder, dad was sitting next to me, he smiled and passed me a soda can, "You okay Bria?" he asked. I leaned my head against his shoulder "Are you okay?" I asked.

"Of course, I just want to make sure you're not going into shock or something," he said.

I laughed "Why would I go into shock? I mean, we only just witnessed the crazy lady shifting into her giant wolf in the middle of our house" I said.

He let out a deep breath "Good times huh?" he joked.

"You think she's okay?" I asked.

"Your mom? Yeah," he tried to say dismissively.

"I thought she was going to rip our heads off," I said.

"To tell you the truth, so did I kiddo" he said.

I looked at him, he looked pretty calm about this whole situation, "Dad why did you marry her?" I asked curiously.

He flickered his eyes to mine "I love your mother Bria," he answered.
