Chapter 5

"Where did you guys go, Ryder?" Sherry asks.

"We went to a diner and had a quick breakfast right before Erin found out that she got the part."

"Wow, and Erin, how was this breakfast date?"

"It was nice. I loved every second of it," I smile.

"I'm sure you did. Especially having Ryder Spence with you," she laughs.

I laugh and then Ryder smiles.

"Well folks," Sherry says as she looks into the camera, "That's all the time we have with these two for now. Thanks for watching. See you guys later."

We all three wave at the camera until we hear the stage manager yell "Cut."

"So, off the record, are you two dating?"

I laugh and reply, "No way, we're just great friends. Ryder's been amazing."

He smiles and then Sherry tells us thanks and that she has to go. So, Ryder and I walk outside to his car and get inside it.

As he's driving back to the set, he smiles at me.

"What?" I ask.

"You're so beautiful."

"Ryder, shut up," I laugh.

"Erin, I'm not joking. You're so perfect. I'm glad you got cast in this or I wouldn't be so happy right now."

"Whatever," I reply sarcastically, "Just drive."

He drives down the roads and then, eventually, we arrive to the set. We walk to stage one and see Patricia standing there with the boy from earlier, Brandon.

Ryder walks up to him and says, "Hey man, I've missed you."

"I've missed you too, dude. How have you been?"

"Amazing, which is weird to me," he laughs.

"I hate to interrupt your reminiscing talk, but we need to film. Now," Patricia says.

I stand there for a minute until the director, Daniel, calls me over. He tells me where to stand and how to act and basically gives me a few tips.

"And we're rolling," a stage manager says.

"Sydney, come on. We've been through this," Ryder says.

"Colton, I know, I'm sorry, but this is how it has to be."

"Look at me, look at me!" he yells.

I look away and fake tears start running down my face. He walks over and looks at me. He puts his hand on my cheek and says, "You're so perfect."

I look at him for a second, then turn my head away. He puts both of his hands on my cheeks and pulls my lips onto his. As our lips collide, the kiss gets more and more passionate. We keep kissing for about thirty seconds, until Daniel yells for us to cut.

Even after the cut is called, Ryder keeps kissing me and kissing me and kissing me. Finally, I manage to pull away.

"Ryder, they called cut forever ago. Why'd you do that?"

"Because I wanted to kiss you. Is that so wrong?"

"I- I don't know."

"Erin, I promise you it's not wrong. If we like each other, so be it. Just because we work together doesn't mean we can't be together. Lots of people do it."
