Yep, here we go.
A strange girl has called my name in a hallway full of, guess what. Yep, you got it, people. So now I'm standing in the hallway, frozen in place, as some girl calls my name. I'll say hi, so she will shut up.
Just as she makes it to me I turn around, and look her square in the eye. My heart is racing, and my free hand is clinched in my skirt. I feel like, I'm pouring sweat and running out of air.
"Hi." Yep, my brain stuck, if all I can say is hi. Damn what should I say.
"O.M.G. You are so cute!" She squeals, and she jumps up and down in front of me. Her blond curls bounce, and her English accent made me want to giggle.
"When William told me to find you, and show you around I was like, yay! I get to be with sis all day! I hope you don't mind me calling you sis!"
"I um...." I held a finger up trying to stop her nonstop chatter but...
"We are gonna be such close friends. William knew nothing about you, except that you stay behind a locked door all the time. I'll have to come over."
Her face to on a excited glow. Like she just realized something important. "Oh... we can go shopping. What's your home room?" She grabbed my paper, and linked her arm with mine pulling me down the hall, all while talking.
My head was starting to pound, and I slid to a halt pulling her around. Her talking finally stopped. Her mouth hung open, and her bright blue eyes bore into my bright red face.
"Look, I don't mind you helping me, but can we not do the whole girly chat, touchy feely thing yet. I don't usually do any of that and I like less talking." I shuffled my feet waiting for her reply.
Her jaw could have touched the floor if her mouth could open anymore. Her perfect makeup and bouncy blond curls made me feel like a street rat. could this girl be any cuter? Wait, I take that back. She most definitely could, if she had cat ears. I shake my head, what am I thinking?
"Why didn't you say that to begin with. Thank goodness, you're not a preppy one. I was running out of stuff to say. Oh, and my name is Lilly by the way."
Now my jaw dropped. "Well then, weird part over I guess. You can call me Jess. Only my friends call me Jess."
"Yay!! Friend status already. I'm doing great." Her phone buzzed. "One sec. Jess, let me just see.... Oh, it's William he wants to know if You're going to lunch here at school, or at the restaurant down the street?" She laughed, "he also wants your number so he can contact you directly. He's so formal, and that's why I love him. Oops don't tell him, I'd die."
I giggled into my hand. So William has a girl in love with him.
Blackmail bank started. Yes! A score for me! "Tell him I'll be eating with you at lunch, not to worry." I gave her my number, and she punched it in. "You save my number as well, you might need it at some point." I tell her, laughing.
"Yes, good idea. Sometimes I forget important things like that." She laughed out loud, "So, today we will eat here at school, that way I can show you the lunch area, and the food really isn't that bad here."
"That's good." I jumped when the bell rung. Apparently, we stood right under it, because it was head-splitting, ear bleeding loud. "Shit, I'm gonna be late."
"Don't worry about that Jess, You're with me. No one ever gets in trouble when they are with me." She laughed out loud again.
Lilly tossed her curls over her shoulder, and looked back to my schedule. Locker 49D, room 490. "Oh, that's my home room anyway. Mrs. Hill is cool, she won't even care if we show up or not."
Lilly's heels clicked, as we started walking to the east side of the school to find my locker and room. She guided me around the whole school helping me find places, and introducing me to teachers. Some of the council committee members met us along the way.
William had a disapproving glare when we entered the council room. Lilly is sweet, and super smart. Not at all as annoying as she had been, when we first met. Lunch was about to start, and I agreed to sit with her. She is a friend after all. Now, I just wait for the bell that says lunch time is here. My head drops to my desk, I want a nap. I need food, school sucks.
RINNNNGGGG..........
Ugh, finally! The lunch bell sounded so sweet to my ears and I grab my books and head for the door. I can see Lilly in the hall waiting for me. Her smile was ear to ear like she knew something special. Haley always had a smile like that at my old school. I miss her. If only I didn't have to leave her in the states. Living in the UK is ok but I miss Haley and Jason like crazy. My two best friends in the whole world!
I walk up to Lilly, and her smile gets even bigger, if that's even possible. She's hiding someone by the lockers, and the reddish brown frizz mop looks very familiar as I get closer. Lilly's squeal brings me to a halt.
"You will never guess who I found at the office. We have a new transfer student from the State's, and she says she knows you!" Lilly squeals again and laughs.
"I wish you'd stop squealing like that, it makes you sound like a dog." The most precious voice ever says.
O.M.G. That's Haley's voice, and her hair! "Haley! Is it really Haley? Oh, thank God, you're here I missed you so much!" I grabbed her arm and pulled her into a big bear hug. I almost squealed like Lilly. My day just got so much better! "How? Why? .....How did you get to transfer here?"
Haley smiled, and pushed me off her. "I'm happy to see you to Jess. Mom let me transfer here because my older sister lives here. After I drove mom crazy that is, since you left she let me move in with Destiny. Believe me mom was about to kill me by the time we booked a plane ticket." She laughed harder, "And here I am."
"O.M.G. Poor Mrs. Kira. I'm so glad your here. You're eating with me and Lilly, and I'm starved so let's go eat and catch up." Lilly brightened up when she heard her name.
"Let's go eat!" Lilly put an arm over both Haley and my shoulders, leading us to the large cafeteria that looked more like a mall food court. My eyes couldn't get any bigger, or rounder, and Haley couldn't close her mouth, as silent wows formed.
Lilly just grinned from ear-to-ear, and squeezed us together in a big hug. "You girls want pizza, sandwiches, or steaks?" Her giggles had us amazed we laughed together. It was food heaven, and made me want to see what kind of restaurant could top this place.
Haley and I looked at each other, and said at the exact same time. "Challenge accepted!" All three of us giggled.
"You two are so cute, and like twin sisters! O.M.G. We are a click of our own! Oh, it's so exciting!" Lilly let go of us to do a little dance.
Her bouncing blonde curls shook, and danced along with her. A few guys stared at us, as we made our way to the first food vender. A large pizza stand with every kind of pizza imaginable set out in rows. Even a brownie chocolate chips sprinkled pizza pie with icing and Oreo topping. My mouth watered. I love this school if only for the food court.
I could tell Haley agreed with me, Best School Food Ever!
