2 years later
Green globs of goo dripped from the ceiling and covered the floor. The room was drenched in the substance with its pungent smell and its two occupants were also covered in it. One who was vastly annoyed.
"Did you follow the instructions exactly Ms. Lewis?" the bored voice asked.
"Ms. Black, I followed them exactly as you ordered me to," Anna Lewis, a Healer assistant, squeaked as she flipped through her parchment full of instructions.
Juliet wiped away a glob on the crest of her lime green robes, "Did you add the unicorn hairs after the potion turned pale yellow?"
"Yes."
"Did you let it sit after you added the..."
Anna nodded furiously, "Yes Ms. Black," she was annoyed at the questioning.
"Did you stir counterclockwise for ten turns and then clockwise for three?"
Anna froze and guilt flashed across her face. She frantically flipped through the parchments and groaned, "No. I only stirred the ten turns."
Juliet sighed and waved her hand at the bubbling and ruined cauldron, "How many times are you going to do this? You do want to be a full Healer, correct?"
Anna stared at the empty cauldron enviously, "Yes Ms. Black."
"What are you having trouble with?"
"I'm not even sure."
Juliet rolled the sleeves of her robes and waved her hands around the room. The goo disappeared from the ceiling and floor. Juliet casted a simple cleaning charm on her robes and got to work remaking the potion. Anna casted her own cleaning charm on herself, though it wasn't as effective as Juliet's.
"I find that it helps to read all of the instructions and then read it again as I'm making it."
"I noticed you cross each line off as you put ingredients in," Anna said in a helpful tone.
Juliet measured out a blue liquid and poured it into the cauldron, "It helps me to keep track of what I've done and what I'm missing."
Anna finished making the potion with Juliet, hanging on to her every word. Once finished, they carefully poured out the potion into different glass vials and put the stopper on it.
Juliet beamed proudly, "You did good today," she peeled off her gloves.
"Thanks Ms. Black," Anna bowed her head.
Juliet picked up her clipboard and badge, "I'll see you tomorrow."
Juliet left the laboratory and made her way to the elevator. She went in and clicked the button to the main level. She sighed happily to herself as the end of the day washed over her.
Her job was the best in the world. After the first six months, Juliet had been transferred to the Artifact Accidents department to start training to be a Healer. Once she had completed that and had received high praise from her superiors, she was allowed to pick any speciality area.
She had chosen to remain in Artifact Accidents but was sometimes called to Spell Damage due to her vast knowledge and experiences.
She had quickly been promoted and was on the top list to be chosen as a Head Healer. As a current Healer supervisor, she was allowed to train new Healers, design fresh potions and participate in major surgeries. Saving people was what she was meant to do.
The elevator stopped at the lobby level. Juliet deposited her clipboard at the front desk and said good bye to the night receptionist there. Everyone absolutely adored Juliet; she greeted everyone by name and never hesitated to put her own life at risk to save someone else's.
