I could see Quincy across the wetlands as we headed towards the road. If the rain was coming we didn't want to have to walk across the muddy land.
The rain drops started to become thinker, slowly picking up their pace. The exposed skin along my arms began to tingle from the waters contact, yep we didn't want to out in the open if it was going to bucket down.
The dull ache returned in my leg as I fell in pace with Riley. The young mechanic's eyes were flicking around the dark clouds above us, fear clearly evident. She was wearing a tattered pair of grey overalls, the denim reaching her ankles. She sported an old tool belt around her hips, filled with a variety of rust tools and held her 10mm pistol close to her hip.
"That's Quincy over there isn't it," I pointed across the land, although I knew perfectly well it was the town with the hidden vault.
Riley's eyes were drawn from the sky towards the horizon. "Oh, yeh it is, the town that hoards the mysterious weapon."
Good I've got conversation going about my assignment, let's see if I can get anything out of it.
"I've heard that this weapon is so powerful it can level a whole city," I shake my head acting baffled.
"Well I heard that the Brotherhood are after it as well." She replied, taking a small spanner from her belt, spinning it between her fingers.
"The Brotherhood? What do those arrogant drop kicks want with it?" I roll my eyes.
"Beats me, who knows with them." She laughs, watching the spanner flip around her fingers.
"Has anyone found the key for the vault yet??" I questioned, hoping for a useful answer.
Riley goes to answer but as if I directly asked him, Shane joins us, butting in, "Oh I heard Cruz came back from his scout the other day with a map that potentially leads to the key."
My eyes widen, staring at the blonde now walking next to me. Finally some information I didn't know.
"What! A map." It was hard to keep the excitement from my voice. "Have they got a location??"
Shane's eyes glanced at me in suspicion, "Well not yet but I was talking to Hayden the other day about it, he's one of Cruz's boys. Anyway he mentioned something about a shipyard as a potential location, but I don't know." He shrugs his shoulders in reply.
This is good, I'm getting somewhere.
A shipyard? There's a few in the Commonwealth but without a full name who knows, it could likely be a shipyard outside of the Place. I could pry a little bit more into the topic but I feel like Shane's already a little suspicious.
A gravely thud drew me out of my thought as we reached the cement of the road. My leg was producing a heavy ache now, forcing my pace slower, which wasn't good because the rain was starting to come down.
MacCready looked around for shelter as the rain soaked his duster and cap. I could feel a slight sting lace over my bare arms, as the irradiated drops slashed my exposed skin.
The sky was drowning us in a think downpour now, turning the wasteland into a hazy shower and it was loud, MacCready's voice barely audible. "Quickly! Head towards the charter school, we can bunk down there until the rain stops."
The team moved fast, jogging to the old brick building. The limp in my pace restricting me to a fast walk, forcing me to fall behind.
The rain pelted my face and soaked my cloths. A sharp tingling sensation burned my skin, I clenched my jaw to stop from whimpering out in pain. I could see Mitch break through the double doors, the Sargent hassling everyone inside, the rain coming down.
