(And we're back with Kaylin's POV)

This morning was the first time I woke up not feeling like shit in the past few days. The downpour I was caught in gave me a case of radiation poisoning and trust me it was not fun.

The pain in my head had forced me to stay in my bunk room, which was not good for me or my assignment.

I had to be hooked up to a RadAway IV bag twice each day, which generally required me to lie down for a few hours, which for the first day was alright since my head was throbbing.

Recently I had gone for a couple of walks around the halls to get my limbs working and also made a few visits to the canteen, because I wouldn't be able to function without food.

I had been sleeping alright until last night, I was tossing and turning to the dull throb of a headache and so I decided to go clean my assault rifle.

I walked around looking for a good spot, and I know I could have easily done it in my room but I felt like I needed a change in atmosphere.

I made my way past the shooting range, thinking I could go sit on the massive staircase leading to the second floor. However, a long wooden bench nestled alongside the target range was calling my name, as I past the open doors.

I hadn't been cleaning my rifle for even 10 minutes and guess who walks through the doors, MacCready.

I guess we had a pleasant conversation, though my assignment was on my mind and it was all I could think of. He obviously noticed something was wrong because he told me he would listen if I ever needed to get something off my chest.

It was kind of sweet but my heart was racing and so were my hands. Once my assault rifle was reassembled I left as quickly as my limp could take me.

This morning was warming up quite quickly once again. Sweat began to line the back of my dark shirt on my way to breakfast and yes I know my way to the canteen now.

I spotted Mitch and Adam seated at a table together, when I entered the doors. Where was the rest of them??

I gathered some food and made my way over to them.

"Hey guys," I smiled taking a seat.

"Oh Kaylin, hey, how you holding up, we're not a ghoul yet I see." Adam greeted me, a smile plastered across his lips and his signature sunglasses resting a top his head.

"Nope I'm feeling good this morning and I definitely need something to do today, I'm sick of doing nothing." I replied, cutting my Mutfruit up.

"Oh that's good to hear." He states, scooping a spoon of pork n beans from his tray.

"So what are you two up to today?" I question, eyeing the two men in front of me.

Adam immediately answers, gesturing with his spoon as he talks. "I have to help Ryder move somethings to the basement this morning, then I might pop in and see my girl later."

I smile at the man and shift my gaze to Mitch. He looks tired this morning, his injured eye seems more clouded then usual and the scar only adds to his sleepy features. A hard line is set on his lips and has been since I turned up.

"Not a lot really." His gruff voice answers me.

Adam turns and looks at him, brows furrowed. "You have a roof guard duty in like 10 minuets, that's something." He returns his gaze back to me and a light bulb goes off in his features.

"Kaylin could join you on roof duty. Yes this is a great idea, it will give her something to do and you can teach her about it for when she gets assigned one." Adam stated excitedly, clearly pleases with himself.
