"You know she's going to be mad, are you sure that they are at home?" Sheila asks with pure concern.

"Yea, I managed to make it out of the house before she noticed that I didn't have them on."

"Well you know, when she finally notices your ass is getting beat."

"Sheila, I told you that bad words sound nasty coming from a girls mouth. And believe me I know my butt is in for it. That's why we are going to try and find them before she gets home.... uh oh."

"Well, so much for your plan. She's home early." Sheila replies sarcastically.

I take a deep breath and slowly turn the door knob. I try my best to be cautious because I don't know what kind of mood my momma is in. You never know with her, if she was sent home from work she'll punish us.

"Hi mom, what are you doing home early?" I ask in hopes she's not in a bad mood.

"Oh I'm not. I have to pull a double shift, so I'm making dinner; then I'm going to take a nap for an hour or so."

"Oh ok I'll help with dinner when I'm done with my homework." Great I still have time to look before she notices.

  "Lexy, where are your glasses?"

Man, I spoke to soon. "Um... I'm not sure I misplaced them last night when I took a shower."

"Well, you better find them before I go back to work or your ass is grass!" She says through grit teeth.

"Yes mom, I understand. I'll start looking now."

----

"So did you find them!" I hear her voice loud and clear coming from the hall.

"She's coming...what are you going to tell her?" Sheila says with a smirk.

  "No mom. I'm still looking."

"Are you fucking serious. you had over two hours. Are you even trying? Did you lose them at school?" She scolds.

"Yes I'm trying and no I didn't leave them at school. I know there here some where."

"Well let's insure you find them by the time I get home. Sheila grab my jalapeno jar!"

"Here mom got it." Sheila says with small smile until my mom dips her fingers in the juice and rubs it into her eyes.

"Why mom... it's not my fault she lost her glasses!"

"Yea well you better help her find them. This is just a taste of what you guys are getting later on if you don't find them!"

"Okay mom!" Sheila jumps up and immediately starts looking in the kitchen.

"Come here Lexy it's your turn!" She does the same action she did to my sister. Except she holds me down and starts to pour the juice in my eyes.

"Stop it! It hurts...I can't see anymore! Your blinding me mom!"

"Mom... mom! Here I found them stop!" Sheila yells from the kitchen.

"Did you even look Lexy! You little bitches like when I hurt you don't you?"

"Yes I did and no we don't!" I say while crying trying to wash the burn from my eyes.

She puts my glasses away in their usual spot and walks out the front door to go to work. I feel so bad that Sheila had to suffer for my stupidity, but I can't see so I can't comfort her.

"Sheila, come here I'm so sorry I really couldn't find them." I say while hugging her.

This is not how seven and eight year olds are supposed to live, are they? Why can't I just be like normal kids. With parents who want and love them.
