Listen to MØ - Roots

An explosion of pain slit a leak of thick blood to drain down my arm. It penetrated deep blotches of bruising into my wrist.

"Get up!"

My brain felt heavy knocking against my head.

"We don't want to rush things Rhapsody"

Another wave of voices drowned away from me.

"The process never takes this long"

"It does if you've accidently killed her"

Suddenly the pain bolted up my arm shocking my consciousness back into reality.

Once my sight dropped to my arm my heart gripped into my throat.

"W-What did you do to me?!" I attempted crawling back but quickly winced at a further pain pruning me into the crisp earth of the forest.

"This finalises our deal" Rhapsody yanked me up by my sore arm, giving me a chance to see all the pain she had inflicted upon it.

A black spot tore into the centre of my wrist encased by another circle.

"N-No I'm serious what is this?" I grazed my fingers over the spot biting down on my lip.

"It's called a sacrificial mark" Victoria cleared her throat gently patting down on her white laced dress.

My stomach churned at her words.

"It's what Vera was" Rhapsody rolled her eyes the object I once thought was a knife was actually her black fingernail. It was so long but once she folded her arms it shrunk back to a normal size.

"Y-You did this to Vera too?!"

Both girls looked at each other.

My blood boiled, scorching the anger to seep into my rising temperature.

"Answer me!" for once my voice came out large and sprawled over the thick tall trees.

"Obviously not" Rhapsody spat me a glare.

"But someone else did" Victoria sighed, clasping her hands at her front slowly shaking her head in such a manner that seemed somewhat pitying.

She really looked sorry.

And that's what made my stomach whisk even faster.

I felt so disgusted that they would stoop this low even for their kind to pretend to feel sorry for Vera.

She didn't deserve any of this.

"I don't believe you" I stared at them.

"No one asked you to" Rhapsody pinned her glare on me, her red hair basking in the tangled dusk of the night which only intensified the fire in her amber eyes.

"Please listen sweetie" Victoria gave me a pressed smile resting her gloved palm on my shoulder. "In order for this deal to go forth you're going to have to fess up to the police about what you've just caused"

"What are you talking about I never did anything"

"You were involved in the death of your best friend" Rhapsody snapped, pinching her forehead.

"I-I would never hurt Vera she was like a sister to me" I yelled shooting fear into the birds as they screamed out of their nests.

"But you did"
