Listen to BANKS - Mind Games

A breeze whooshed through the windows hovering above the fireplace of Rhapsody and Victoria's sitting room. Victoria shivered rising from her seated position to shut them before taking her seat back down on the floor in a criss-cross position.

Only droplets of moon dust were left to filter through the glass windows.

"So did you find out anything with your disguise as a play toy?" Victoria handed me a cup of hot chocolate before taking her seat next to the fire, which licked the burning embers of fire, oozing out crackling sounds as it illuminated a golden radiance to saturate the wooden floors and cast wavering shadows across our faces.

"Cornelius thought I was his ex called Femi" I curled my knees into my chest snuggling into the handstitched blankets.

"The king was never married, Kamaria was always his first wife"

"That's because Kamaria killed his ex Femi she was a human" Marcus sighed.

"But why?"

"I'm not sure I'm assuming she was jealous or maybe she just wanted to keep order around in the royal hierarchy, anyways we overheard Cornelius and Kamaria arguing about Femi who also happened to look like Vera and that's how we found out Cornelius killed Vera and is using her as his sacrifice" I took a sip of the drink allowing its sweet taste to ripple along my taste buds like lush velvet.

"That doesn't make any sense he killed her because she looked like his ex?" Victoria tilted her head to the side.

"Yeah pretty much" Marcus shrugged resting his arms at the back of his head as he leant back.

"But that still doesn't add up"

"Grief makes people do crazy things especially when it comes to anger" my shaky breath sprinkled across the drink causing it to crease with folds. "Seeing someone who looked like his lost love must have been so taunting"

Remembering the moment I saw Vera in the tournaments sprung back in my thoughts. Sadness, anger, doubt were just some of the few emotions warping my sanity but the deep sense of longingness was what overtook me that day.

The moment I heard about her death I didn't believe she was gone even right now I still don't.

I made sure to never forget anything about her, I forced myself to absorb all the memories, details, and features about her so much so that I wrote them down
