Lakes of Souls

Many lives are lost
To the hunger of the sea
The salted hatred pulls them below
Never again to be free

But I know of a place
That hold the Syrens of this Earth
They stand deep and pure
Nurturing the rebirth

Of ancient glades
And rivers unbound
Who knows what secrets
Still rest to be found

Lush wetlands and forests
Line every free spot of shore
Still as predators stalking prey
What are they waiting for?

They are changelings, these lakes
Full of aqua so clear
Someone took liquid sky
And poured it right here

But like the mighty oceans these lakes
They hunger for shore
Their icy claws consuming
Each year hundreds or more

The slightest breeze
Causes changes so fast
If you get caught in their anger
That voyage will be your last

As mighty as the ocean
As hungry as the sea
What ghosts rest upon the bottom
Never to be free?

The fiery inferno
Will meet your final goodbye
Blazen underworld underwater
Will meet you when you die.

Mist lilts up like smoke
From fireplace coals
That are the Great Lakes
The Lakes of lost Souls
