Read the faint lilt of the breeze
Rings of stories carved in trees
In the ground their spirits lie
In forest memories
They'll never die.
Tales inscripted into the molecules
Of our very being.
I trod upon this sacred path
An intruder: unwelcome to the spectacle
About to meet my eyes
And in that instant:
Between the branches
The cries
Of every creature
That is and is ever to be.I watch the ghosts of the forest
In silver shadows lie the past
The present and future:
But when fate's die was cast
It marked the start of our tragic trail
Our destruction will prevail
Until all that is left in this wood
Are the silver spirits
Of all that could be
But never will.
