My neighbor usually picks me and his siblings up from school, and he's always late.
So sometimes I have to wait on a bench, looking extremely lonely while I whisper to myself scenarios that would never happen.
Today was no different.
However a small kid came and sat beside me. He looked 4 years old and he was full of life and joy. He ran around, his brother played games with him, his big sister took care of him, and his mother sat there watching.
Most people die when they're old enough to know almost everything about life.
I felt jealous, because the probability of this young boy having tomorrow is higher than the probability of me living for the next hour.
He looked at me at some point, you know, like a glance. I promise his eyes were full of curiosity and a hint of confusion. Then he smiled at me and ran to his mother, and for a while I felt no envy or jealousy. This is his time like it was my time years ago.
A smile full of life and joy.
This was the highlight of my day.
