Growing

Darkness consumes,
envelopes,
the ebony waves churn.

But today,
slowly,
I rise.

Nature becons me,
her siren call pulls me
outside.

And oh,
the beauty that lies there.

Melodious birdsong echoes,
reverberates through
my hollowed ribs.

Liquid honeyed sunshine
soaks through my skin,
lights up my insides.

The crisp azure wind
dances around me,
flows through my hair.

Soft emerald blooms
sprout from the boundless earth,
each one a new life.

I shed the despair,
let Mother Nature's hands
guide me to peace.

And I will grow,
for I am the perennial flower.

survive the winter,
flourish in the sun.
