Since the strain on my ankle wasn't severe I was able to limp around and use one crutch. I stayed off my feet for the most part, but I could finally go to the bathroom without assistance.
Aaron and I officially started dating, and there were mixed feelings all around. Kendra wasn't happy, and she made that very clear. She threatened Aaron every chance she got.
Deja was happy for me, but I sensed there was tension between her and Aaron. They wouldn't even look at each other. It was my fault, and I hated that.
Sunday afternoon was when we told everyone at Deja and Cameron's house. Orion was there too, and Aaron ignored him the whole time. I hated that I was getting in between everyone's relationships. It made me feel guilty.
Monday morning Aaron brought me lunch and ate in the back room with me. He even brought Kendra lunch too, but she supposedly didn't want it.
He was trying to get approval from her which was adorable. But his efforts went unappreciated and ignored, and I felt bad for him. I tried to explain to him that Kendra was stubborn and protective; she was like the mama bear. I told him to give it time.
Tuesday afternoon Orion came into my store wanting to check on me.
"Hey, Kyra."
I smiled as he neared the counter. "Orion, what are you doing here?"
He grinned. "Am I not allowed to be here?"
I shook my head nervously. "Of course, you can be here." That was when I noticed the bruise around his eye and the cut on his lip. "What happened to your eye?"
A bad feeling settled in my chest as I recalled seeing Aaron's cut up fist.
He shrugged. "Got into a bit of a fight. No big deal."
"Who did it?"
He looked uncomfortable as he shoved his hands into his pockets. "Some guy. Anyway, I just came in to see how you were doing."
I smiled. "Well, I'm fine."
He nodded. "Good. If you need anything at all, just call me."
He left, and Kendra came from the back room as if she'd been waiting for him to leave before she made her presence known.
"That boy likes you," she said with disapproval clear in her tone.
I liked Orion, and he seemed like a very nice guy, but I honestly didn't care if he liked me.
"Whatever," I muttered.
Kendra finished her shift and left right before Aaron arrived to bring me a late lunch.
I got so excited when he walked in. He looked sexy in his leather jacket and jeans. I licked my lips as he neared the counter and set the bag of food down.
"Hey." He gave me a peck on the lips. "Got you a salad."
"Thanks." I took the bag and pulled out my salad ready to eat when I became aware of Aaron's eyes on me. "Something wrong?"
"You tell me. What's on your mind?"
How could he see right through me? He read me like a book. "Orion stopped by."
