Alessia's POV
I quickly fell asleep after crying in Newt's arms. I woke up and found the covers over me but Newt was nowhere to be found. "Newt?" I called, but I got no answer. I got out of bed, grabbed a blanket, and walked outside. I saw him standing near the fire. "Newt."
"Hey," Newt hugged me. "How are you feeling?"
"Like a dagger went through my heart," I sighed.
"Do you wanna talk about it?"
"Please?"
"Let's go back inside," Newt suggested. We went back inside my hut and sat on the bed. "Okay. Tell me what all happened so we can get this off your chest and out of the way."*Flashback*
I went to Brian's hit and knocked. He opened the door and let me in. "What is wrong with you?" I asked.
He responded, "Nothing but looking at you."
"Brian, I'm your sister," I looked at him. "The one you protected when we were running with The Right Arm. The one who cured you."
"I may have married Mia and had Jack with her, but I've always had my eye on someone else," Brian walked closer to me. "That other girl was always you. You were the one that caught my eye." I crossed my arms. He pulled me in close by the waist. "I want you Alessia. And I want you now."
Brian started getting handsy. "Let go of me," I replied. "Let me go." Brian kept a good grip on me and started to try to take off my clothes. "No, Brian! Stop!" I have him one good punch in the gut and he lost his grip on me. "Leave me alone." I opened the door. "You stay away from me!"
"Alessia, stop!" Brian shouted.
*End Flashback*"Do you feel better?" Newt asked.
"A little bit," I nodded as I wiped away a couple tears. "That's not the Brian that I know. I want the Brian that I know back."
There was a knock on the door. "It's opened," Newt sighed. Colby stuck his head in. "What do you need?"
"Jorge said he found a city we can settle in," Colby replied. "An abandoned WCKD city that still functions and it's crank free."
"I don't know if I want everyone to be confined in a city," Newt replied. "Will you be fine with that, Alessia?"
"We can expand," I stated, catching my breathe. "We'll all have perfect medical care and I'm sure there's people there who doesn't work with or for WCKD. We will just have to run a background check on them." Newt looked at me as Colby left. "We'll have to make a government. Most of us will have jobs and make money. We gotta find your special skills or work law enforcement."
"You think I'll be a good officer?" Newt smiled.
"I've seen the way you fight, Newt. You fight with passion and you fight for something."
"I fight to come back to you."
"And it'll be the same there," I nodded. "Unless you'll be my personal security guard."
"I'll rather do that," Newt nodded. "What are you going to do? Are you going to be a president?"
"I may be a good leader but I can't manage a country," I nodded. "Try again."
"FBI? CIA? A spy?" Newt asked. I nodded. "What is my wife planning to do?"
"I'm going to be a doctor, Newt. I'll be packing but the hospital is going to be in the WCKD building."
"They'll be okay with that."
"Let's get Dad and a map," I sighed. We walked outside. Dad and Jorge were talking. I walked up to them. "Is it true, Dad?"
"Jorge is right, sweetheart," Dad pointed at the map. "But it's going to be a while till be get there. It's about a two day trip with the plane. We're not all going to fit there."
"And we need people there to set up," Jorge replied. "People on the inside to actually get the city set up for us."
"You let me take care of that," I nodded.
"We got one plane," Brenda walked up to us.
"I got a helo," I replied. "I can take Newt, Gally, Fry, and Minho."
"I'll come help," Brenda smiled.
"Great, so Dad, you and Jorge will be able to take care of the kids," I smiled. I looked at the map and pointed at a dot. "This is where the city it?" Dad nodded. "Okay, the boys and I will head out after dinner. You guys make sure to head out there the same time tomorrow."
"We won't have the city cleaned up on twenty four hours," Brenda replied.
"Walk with me," I sighed. Brenda and I started walking. "We're going to take over this city. There's no one there. Only a few people at the gate wanting to get in but they're not smart enough to get over."
"We're opening this city for everyone else?"
"Yeah, but they'll be vaccinated at the gate before entering."
"But the serum went down with the building you were in."
"Not all of it," I sighed. "I got a couple hundred. We won't go through it all in one day and I can keep making more."
"You can make the serum?"
"Yeah, that's why Janson took me. He wanted me to make the serum. That's how I saved Newt."
"Oh," Brenda sighed.
"It's time for dinner," Newt walked up to us. He grabbed my hand. "I'm going to take my wife now."
"That's going to get annoying, really fast," Brenda smiled.
"He won't use it forever," I smiled. I grabbed onto Newt's arm as we walked toward the dining area. The tables were arranged in a circle, with one table decorated. "The decorated table is ours, isn't it?"
"Yeah," Newt nodded.
"The last plate has been set," Dad stated. "Let's all take a seat and the bride and groom will have a toast and some amazing news." Newt and I sat down. Brenda set next to Newt, and Thomas sat next to me. "Newt, you first."
"Oh, okay," Newt replied as he stood up. He held his glass. "Alessia, your life and my life flow into each other as wave flows into wave, and unless there is peace and joy and freedom for you, there can be no real peace or joy or freedom for me." I smiled at him. "To see you happy and to see reality -- not as we expect it to be but as it is -- is to see that unless we live for each other and in and through each other, we do not really live very satisfactorily; that there can really be life only where there really is, in just this sense, love." He held his glass in the air. "To my beautiful bride, Alessia. I love you." We all smiled and took a sip. He sat down. "I am not good at these things."
"Alessia, you're turn," Dad sighed.
"Yeah, well, if I knew we were toasting, I would've written one," I smiled as I stood up. "So, I didn't write one but this one will come from the heart, unedited. So, let's see how this goes." I picked up my glass. "The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don't finally meet somewhere. They're in each other." I looked at Dad. "Every boy I looked at, Dad always told me they weren't good enough for me. I'll eventually find my other half. I wasn't interested in any guy that was in the Right Arm. I just about gave up, until you came around." I smiled. "Dad didn't say anything bad about you. He felt and knew you were a good guy without even knowing you." Dad chuckled and nodded. "Thanks to all of you for taking the time to come here today to see Newt legally agree to keep me in the manner to which I have become accustomed until he is dead!" The people laughed. "In all seriousness, Newt, I am so pleased and proud to be yours. You are my rock, my love, my best friend. Every moment with you is amazing and I cannot believe we get to be together forever." I held up my glass. "To my entire world." We all took a sip. I put my glass down. "Okay, good news time, before we start to eat." I sighed. "So, Jorge has found a city for all of us to move into. It's going to be a good place for us to live in and work and we'll be helping each other. I don't mind all of this, but I want us to have the right equipment for our medical health." I sighed. "You're all moving out of here this same time tomorrow night."
"What about you?" a girl asked.
"I'm leaving today after dinner," I sighed. "We're going to get the city cleaned up for you and you'll have a job, if you're old enough."
"Only you?" a guy asked.
"I'm taking Newt, Gally, Minho, Colby, Thomas, and Brenda with me," I nodded. "It's going to be a better place for us. I'll make sure it's great for us to live in." They all looked at me. "More freedom and more places to have fun." They were just speechless. "There's technology and lights." They all clapped. "Alright." I sat down. Newt grabbed my hand under the table. "At least someone can agree with me."
"They'll come around when they see it," Newt smiled. After dinner, we each backed a bag and loaded into the helicopter. "Who's flying?"
"Me," I smiled. We got to the city and cleaned up what we can within the twenty four hour period, with small cat naps every now and then. The plane landed on the top of the WCKD building. Vince lead the group to the lobby of the condos. "Alright." I stood on a table. "It's clean and sanitized. Two to four to a room, okay?"
"Why is there people in the hospital?" Vince asked.
"They were left to die," I sighed. "I'm giving them medical attention. Medjacks, you'll be with Colby. He's going to train you guys on how to work everything in the hospital. You'll each be given a pager to page me. I'm the only doctor in the hospital." I looked at all of them. "Brenda and Jorge will take some of you to the gate to let people in. You're to inject them with this serum before you let them through. You inject them when they get into the box so you won't get hurt." I looked at Newt. "Newt, Thomas, Minho and Gally have agreed to protect a section of the city. Well, Newt's got the hospital. Vince, you're head of the government." I started thinking to see if I missed anything. "That is it, everyone. Let's get to work." My phone rang as Minho passed out the technology. I picked up. "Yeah, Colby?"
"Code blue!" Colby exclaimed.
"Crash cart," I replied. "I'm on my way." I hung up. "I gotta go." I ran to the hospital and Colby was on top of the patient doing CPR. "Did he stop breathing?"
"Yeah," Colby nodded.
"Here," I sighed as I took over for CPR, without getting on top of the patient. "Charge to 2000 joules." Colby did and handed me the paddles. "Clear!" I hit the patient with the defibrillator. I looked at the monitor. "Still no pulse." I resumed CPR as Colby grabbed the paddles. "Again for 2000." He handed me the paddles. "Clear!" I hit the patient again. I looked at the monitor. "No pulse." I looked at my watch. "Let's call --" The monitor started having a beat. I felt for a pulse. "It's a miracle." I turned around and Newt was at the door. I grabbed my hand and we walked to the break room. "We're going to turn this place around. We are fifty percent there already."
