Newt's POV
A good nine months in and we were still standing. Alessia was huge, being nine months pregnant. She has agreed to let Colby take over as she took her maturity leave, for the last month of her pregnancy. "Is Colby the one that's going to deliver our baby?" I asked.
"He's the only one that can," Alessia nodded. "The only one educated enough."
"I guess so," I sighed. My phone vibrates and I looked at it. "It's Thomas. I'll be back."
"Take all the time you need," Alessia smiled.
"I won't be too long," I nodded. I went to the military building that we had claimed to be our building. "What is it?" I looked at the map and there was a red dot. "I thought you said all WCKD technology is dead."
"Where's Alessia?" Vince asked. "Haven't seen her for the past four months and I'm starting to get worried. She should start putting up defenses." I looked at him. "We don't know how big this army is or who is leading them."
"No, I wanna keep this fight away from her," Thomas replied. "She did all of this for us and I'm not about to take her down with us. If she dies, her blood is on my hands."
"Stop," I looked at him. "You still care about her, don't you?"
"No," Thomas nodded.
I grabbed him and held him against the wall, "DON'T LIE TO ME!"
"What do you want me to say?" Thomas asked. "Yes, I care about her like the rest of us." I took a breath and relaxed myself. I turned my attention back to everyone and put my hands on the table and leaned forward. "Newt."
"I don't want Alessia involved," I sighed. "I don't need her getting hurt. She can't afford to get hurt."
"What are you talking about?" Jorge asked.
"She's our best fighter," Brenda replied. "We need her for this."
"So we don't," I nodded. "We can't."
"We need her," Vince replied. "You can't tell me that we can't have my daughter for this fight."
"We can't," I sighed a little more sternly. "We can't because —"
"Because I'm pregnant," Alessia showed up.
"Well, that takes out our best shooter," Gally sighed. "How long has she been like that?"
"I've been pregnant for nine but I started showing four months ago," Alessia sighed. "Just because I'm not in the fight, doesn't mean I can't guide you." She put a headset on the table. "I can be your eyes and ears over the airwaves since we got the technology. Each one of you will be my eyes as well." Vince nodded. "I just want each of you to promise me that you'll bring each other back home in one piece. Especially you, Newt." I looked at her. "I don't want to raise my daughter alone and she's going to need her father."
"We're having a girl?" I asked.
"Yeah," Alessia smiled. "So, come home safely and no huge wounds. I don't trust Colby operating on you."
"Well, we'll rather have you," Minho crosses him arms. "Tell me, do you believe we'll even get through this alive?"
"We've been through a lot," Alessia nodded. "You guys from the maze has been through more. I know we can." She looked at the map. "But with an army that size, it's crucial that you have someone be your eyes and ears."
"How do you expect us to get there?" Jorge asked.
"Take the helo," Alessia nodded. "You're a good pilot, Jorge."
"Alright," Jorge sighed. "Let's go team."
"I'll meet you on the roof," I called after them. I looked at Alessia as she put on her headset and sat herself in front of the computers. "You sure about this?"
"As sure as I can be," Alessia nodded as she put a pin on me. "Come back home, safely."
"You said that last time and I stabbed myself," I replied.
"I love you," she smiled.
"I love you too," I replied as I kissed her. I got onto the plane with them. "Let's get this done with." Jorge flew us to the army and landed on the roof of the closest building. We were on foot for a good two hours before we were face to face with the army. "Alessia?"
"Great," Vince sighed.
"Do you see this?" Gally asked.
"Shit," Thomas responded. "Brian."
"Alessia?" I asked.
"I'm here, I'm here," Alessia sighed.
"What do you want us to do, boss?" Vince asked.
"Take...him...out," Alessia stayed with no hesitation. "He betrayed us, he's not going to get into the city."
"Get out of our way and you won't get hurt," Brian smiled.
"Sorry, but we got orders," Gally responded.
"That is what, exactly?" Brian asked.
"To kill you," I replied. "I never thought I'd see the day where she says to kill someone."
"You and me both," Vince replied.
"Who gave that order?" Brian asked.
"Alessia," Minho replied.
"She wouldn't do that," Brian smiled. "Take out one of my men and maybe I'll believe you."
"Thomas, his right hand," Alessia stated.
"Okay," I shrugged. Thomas shot the guy in the head. "Got anymore before we get this over with?" Brian smirked. "Why's he smiling?"
"You've been trapped," Brian smirked.
"What is he talking about?" I asked.
"Rapid fire," Alessia stated. "Now!"
We started shooting. "We're our numbered!" I exclaimed. "Stay strong guys!"
