The door shuts behind me. I hear screaming. No, I don't. I hear crying. Wrong again. I don't hear anything. That's terrifying. I walk up to my room, but I don't make it.

Two hours. I was passed out on the stairs for two fucking hours. When I woke up I was confused. Why didn't my family wake me? Where is my family? Daddy? Sissy? Mom- I cut myself off. After waking up I walked up the rest of the stairs and walked into my room. That leads us to now, me sobbing in a corner. Where had they gone? Are they looking for me? For a new home? A new daughter/ sister that will love and respect them both? I try to bury my thoughts but they keep crawling out of the ground. Call Josh. Call Josh. Call Josh. I could never... he's in school anyway. I have an idea. I'll walk there. No that's an awful idea... what's new? I'll just sleep this whole thing off. But I can't sleep away the thought of my dead mother and abandoning family.

I feel my feet dragging against the stone pavement. I didn't even realize I was moving until I was halfway to my school. As I was walking I heard a quiet whimper. I turn around, fretting that someone or something is hurt. A small, black cat suddenly jumps out from underneath a parked car. I frown and walk over to it. "Where's your home, little guy?" My voice instantly gets a bit higher once talking to it. The fragile thing meows and runs its face against my hand. I smile and place it on my shoulder, continuing to walk to school.

Once I get there school is over. I search for Josh through the cloud and, eventually, find him. "Hey!" I yell out, and to my surprise, actually get his attention. He jogs over to me, "hey, what's up?" He asks. "Do you want to go out with me?" I blurt out, not even sure why I asked it. He looks flabbergasted as he takes a step back. "Uh, sure!" He says enveloping me in a bear hug. I giggle to myself as my body's pressed against his. "You wanna come over? I have snacks and stuff. Oh, also your homework from today." He says. "Great! I'm thinking about going back tomorrow!"

Where is this change in mood coming from? I hear a tiny meow and turn my head to see the kitten licking my shoulder. I giggle as it tries attacking my flexing shoulder. Josh laughs then grabs my hand as we head to his car.
