"Fair warning, I room with three guys."
Shayne shrugged, "This is L.A. Who cares?"
Courtney scoffed, "You'd be surprised."  She lead him and the stairs and into the apartment, "Here we are. Boys?"
A gangly man with long hair turned out from his seat on the couch, "Hey."
Shayne smiled awkwardly, "Hi, I'm-"
"He's Shayne. This is Gabe. If you see a redhead, that's Daniel. Sorry if he's naked. That guy with pink hair sleeping on the floor is TJ. I promise they aren't as crazy as they look. Cmon," she pulled his arm and lead him farther into the apartment, "I think I might have a thank you present."
"You don't really need to thank me. You're the one who got that guy to go away." He was amazed by her calm.
They entered a small kitchen.
Courtney gulped and looked down, "Yeah well, I'm really good at hiding the storm on the inside."
"Don't be so hard in yourself," he said softly.
She gave him a small smile before stepping forward and wrapping her arms around his shoulders, burying her face in his neck.
After a short moment of hesitation, Shayne returned the embrace. He looped one arm around her back and the other around her waist.
So...maybe she wasn't so tough after all.
Courtney abruptly stepped back, "Sorry, I, uh, I just-"
"You don't need to apologize to me, ok? I understand. Sometimes you just need a hug...You don't have to be rough around me, Courtney."
An actually tear slipped down this beautiful girl's cheek.
He wrapped her into another hug, "You never have to be rough around me again."
