Finally.
The moment you've been waiting for.
The Shourtney fic.
Here we go.

You know what's not fun?
Being single at a wedding.
You know what Shayne didn't want?
To be single at Wes's wedding.
Not a girlfriend, just a date to keep him occupied while Wes and Isabelle rub their loving relationship in every else's faces.
As the weeks passed, the number of potentials began to drop.
Olivia with her boyfriend, Noah with Keith. Even all of Smosh Games has someone. Flitz had finally worn Bridgette down and Sohinki was going with Mari since Peter would be out of town.
Since all of his other coworkers and friends were in committed relationships, Shayne was at a loss.
Then there was Courtney. Beautiful, funny, intelligent Courtney.
She had been oddly quiet about her roommates wedding.
Mere days before the event, Shayne built up to the courage to ask her.
He didn't know why he was scared.
It was just Courtney. They were good friends and got along tremendously.
"Hey, Court," he said sheepishly one day as they walked to their cars after work,"What are you doing for Wes's wedding?"
She shrugged,"I honestly haven't thought about it. I mean, I've been so concentrated on keeping Isabelle calm I forgot to think about anyway else."
He drew a deep breath.
It's just Courtney,
"Do you want to go with me? Weddings suck when you're alone and we can save on gas money and-"
"Yes," she giggled,"I'll go with you, buddy."
Buddy.
Shayne didn't expect that word to hit him like a ton of bricks, but it did.
Were they really only buddies?
Countless hours of laughter, conversations, and connection are to be summed up in "buddy"?
That hurt.
Why did that hurt?

The fateful day finally came. Courtney looked beautiful in her pastel blue dress. All the girls were drooling over Shayne in a suit, but all he cared about was Courtney.
She held onto his arm as they walked onto the beach where the wedding would be held. Shayne basically had to carry her to the chairs because she couldn't walk on the sand in her heels.
After sitting next to Sohinki, they began trading stories about Wes and Isabella. Courtney recounted all the times she had walked in on them.
No one could make him laugh like Courtney would.
Why?
This girl he has known for two years was having such a weird affect on him...
Just friends.
Shayne kept reminding himself that they were just friends.
When the tearful ceremony concluded and they moved to a pavilion for the reception, Courtney refused to wear her heels any longer. She promptly slid off the shoes and grabbed Shaynes arm, leading him to the dance floor.
He laughed,"Courtney, c'mon!"
"We have to dance, Frog legs! We did not come all the way to this wedding not to dance!"
They danced.
Well, they tried until Flitz showed up and stole the show.
"Let's go," Courtney whispered as they walked back to their table.
"Like, home?"
Shayne was devastated.
"No, to the beach!" She once again latched onto his arm and pulled him into the sand.
"I'm glad you came with me, Court," he said after a long moment of comfortable silence as they strolled across the moonlight beach.
"I'm glad you asked me. That reception probably would have been miserable if you weren't with me."
He smiled.
"I'm glad we're friends," she added quietly.
Shayne stopped. He sees a deep breath,"Yeah, friends."
They were inches away from each other.
"Courtney-"
"What?"
"Are we really just friends? And what if we aren't and we ruin-"
"Stop," she gently placed her hand on his shoulder,"Just...stop."
"...I'm sorry."
"Don't be."
"I just," he sighed,"I need an answer. You're all I think about and you're driving me crazy in the best way possible."
She smiled, leaning forward,"We can be whatever you want to be." She quickly planted a sloppy kiss on his lips. She gasped, as if she shocked herself," I'm sorry! I should have asked!"
Shayne chuckled,"You want to try again?"
"Shayne Topp, may I kiss you?"
"I though you'd never ask."
They softly kissed, Shayne brushed Courtney's hair from her face, Courtney wrapping her hands around his neck.
"Just friends?" She giggled once they released.
He smiled,"Just friends."
