"Who is the ZK?" I ask after we made camp
Abigail shrugs. "The Zombie King," she says. "Or ZK."
"The Zombie King?" I huff.
"Yeah," James chirps up. "He's really messed up. There's a rumor that he's human - but he hangs out with the dead and controls them." He makes a face.
"Ew," Abigail says.
Jax shrugs.
Sterling looks at me. "Yeah. The ZK is a really messed up guy. No one knows what he looks like - but if you even get a suspicion, run."
While we said this, Jax kicked little rocks out of his way, looking down.
"Come on. Cheer up," I told him. "We're gonna be gone for a minute. Stay safe."
He looked up at me, and opened his mouth, but then closed it. I took this as he didn't want to talk. I jogged over to where the others had went while I was talking. When I got there, Abigail started talking.
"Legends say that the ZK is always grumpy, and his eyes change color at night time." Abigail reported, her eyes wide.
"Really?" James said. "That's so creepy." He made a face.
Abigail shrugged. "Yeah. Well, anyway, that's all I know. Do you guys know any myths about the Zombie King?"
Her voice is hushed as she says Zombie King.
"I know a myth," I reported quietly. "The ZK was killed before. Does that mean the Zombie King is no longer alive?"
"That means he's dead!" Abigail said as if I was dumb.
"But he's still ruling over the dead, isn't he?" Sterling asked. "Then he's got to be dead himself."
"Extra ew," James said.
"Wait," I quickly said. "Jax's been really quiet. Let's ask him."
I runned back to camp, eyes searching for Jax.
My pulse raced.
He was gone.
