We lay on the ground after running into Sterling and Sophie, panting. Mason was out of sight.
"Should we go find Mason?" Sterling asked.
"Maybe," I replied, "or maybe not."
Before any of us could vote, a voice spoke down the hallway.
"Hello," the voice echoed down the hall and Mason stepped out of the shadows. "Did you miss me?"
Abigail grumbled in response, and the rest of us followed the example.
"Sooo, yes!" Mason exclaimed.
Sterling told him. "Can't you tell, Mason? It means no, you idiot."
Mason looked at us, shock welled up in his eyes. Tears formed at the edges. "Well, I didn't either. See ya."
He turned and walked away and the darkness swallowed him whole.
"Well. Now that that's over," I said, brushing off my hands. "Now what?"
"Simple, Evan. We come up with a plan to defeat James." Sterling answered.
I asked again, "How?"
"Let's just corner him. Evan takes the left. Sophie takes Middle. Abigail takes right," Sterling answered once again. "Since I have the sniper rifle, I'll cover and when in need, use my sword."
Abigail gulped. "Are we sure about this?"
I glanced at her. "Probably not. But it's the best choice we have."
We looked at each other.
"So, let's go?" Sophie asked.
We all nodded and off we went.
