“Sean, where are we going?”

“Don’t worry, you’ll see soon enough. Did you bring the glow sticks and aluminum foil like I told you too?”

“Well, yeah, but I don’t know how that’s in anyway related to where we’re going.”

“Trust me, it will have all the relevance soon enough.”

Niall was getting tired of following the brunette, already weary from trekking through the forest path they were on. Hiking was never something he had gotten into before, and the uneven road only made the journey even more strenuous than it should have been. It was getting dark and honestly Niall was getting a little scared, but he kept his mouth shut as they continued walking.

As much as the blonde wanted to sigh dramatically, he couldn’t deny he was excited about this so called special place Sean wanted to show him. The brunette had called him out of the blue, telling him to get ready for a date as long as gathering some necessities. He didn’t tell Niall where they were going, or what they were doing, which only thrilled the smaller boy even more.

Sean himself had brought a Polaroid camera, as well as two rolls of film. The blonde had questioned what the brunette was going to do with it, but he stayed tight lipped and refused to tell him the answer. “You’ll see.” he kept on saying.

Eventually, Niall decided he had enough. “Sean, tell me where we’re going now.

The brunette smiled patiently, as if already used to dealing with the blonde’s moods. “We’re here,” he said a few moments afterwards, walking ahead into a clearing separate from the path. The smaller boy pouted slightly, upset that he didn’t technically get an answer, but he followed Sean anyways.

He had brought him to a river, gentle and slow moving, a naturally peaceful landscape that was a scenic view of nature in its glory. Niall had never seen such a thing in his past. The scenery was just awe-inspiring. No wonder Sean had brought him here. It was beautiful.

Suddenly, he heard the click of a camera. Sharply turning his head, he discovered the source of the noise to be Sean’s Polaroid. As the still blank photo came out, the blonde looked at him questioningly. He shrugged.

“I just wanted to take a picture of your reaction.”

“Don’t, I probably look ridiculous.” Niall stared at the already fading in image of himself, dreading the results.

“Not true, you always look amazing. That’s why I brought this camera, so I’ll have picture evidence of how perfect you are. I don’t get to see you a lot, so I’ll at least have these to remember you by.”

The smaller boy blushed furiously. “Stop it. I see you every week, you can’t miss me that much,” he muttered.

Sean smiled. “That’s already too long. Come on, give me the aluminum foil.”

Niall observed wordlessly as the brunette ripped a sheet off, folding it into different shapes. Smoothly and efficiently, he watched step by step as the sheet of aluminum formed into the shape of a paper boat. Not the simple kind that looked like a sail boat, but the more complicated and traditional one that was closer to a canoe. “I didn’t know you know how to do origami.”

“I don’t. This is the only thing I can do,” he answered as he knelt down to set the boat in the water. The two boys watched as it floated down the river. “You want to try?” he asked, offering another sheet of foil.

“I don’t know how to make those kinds,” the smaller boy admitted.

“I’ll teach you.”
