It never occurred to Liam until the last moment that he would have to stop hanging out with Danielle, or at least, start refusing her offers to go out. He had completely forgotten that they were dating (in a sense), so when the older girl had asked Liam to be her date for another party she was going to, the brunette found himself unprepared as he fumbled through the conversation, explaining to her that he was already taken. She was an amazing girl and he had enjoyed spending time with her, but he was in a relationship with Zayn.
Danielle was surprised at first, but she took it supportively. Liam had apologized profusely, and although she said she was alright with it, he couldn’t help but feel like he had led her on. They had gone on a few dates together, and he had never let on that he was interested in anyone else. Things with Zayn had gone by so quickly, the idea that she might have been expecting to go out again when he came back to school had completely left his mind.
The entire class period he could barely look at the girl in the eye, feeling horrible about himself and unable to concentrate on the lesson. He pondered ways to make it up to the curly haired girl, but had no idea what to do.
Seeing how guilty the younger teen felt, Danielle had offered a compromise after class. “How about you make it up to me by going to the party with me, but just as a friend? You can keep me company, since I don’t know most of the people that are going.”
Liam smiled, glad that the older girl seemed to always know what to say. “That would be great,” he said.
In his mind however, the brunette wondered how Zayn would take him going with Danielle to a party. He suddenly recalled how Zayn didn’t seem to really like her, and it had confused him as to why until recently. Now he knew that it was because the raven haired teen was jealous of the older girl, seeing that she was dating the object of his affections. And despite the fact that they were in a relationship already, he knew that Zayn still didn’t exactly like her. It was a grudge that he still held, one that he couldn’t let go because he was just that type of person.
In his mind, the brunette played out the scenario. He would tell the dark eyed boy the plans, and Zayn, his jealous streak coming in, would undoubtedly forbid him from doing so. It wasn’t like he had a leash on him or anything, but Liam felt that he would be unable to refuse the other boy, because he knew that if the roles were reversed, he would probably want the same from him too. However, he needed to make it up the older girl, and her idea was the best he could think of.
Although it was going against every moral fiber in his body, the younger teen decided it would be best not to tell Zayn about his plans with Danielle at all. If the dark haired boy didn’t know, he wouldn’t be able to stop him from doing so. And if he never actually told him not to, it would be okay for Liam to go to the party with Danielle. At least, that’s what Liam told himself.
“Are you sure you don’t want to go clubbing with me and the guys tonight? I could show you around and all that,” Zayn offered, dressed for a night out.
“I’m sure Zayn, you know that clubbing isn’t really my kind of idea of a fun time.”
