Liam felt like a ball of nerves as he approached the large gates of the world renowned Hero Academies entrance. The large campus didn’t look that much different from any other boarding school. Most of the grounds were grassy field, with road pathways that crossed the entire campus, leading to the many building s that were inside the iron gates. To the side Liam could see what he could assume were the dorms. Occasionally a person would suddenly be leaving a building. He strained his eyes for any recognizable faces, but they always had disappeared before he could get a closer look.

The one thing that set this school apart from others was that it was a school for young superheroes. Young people around the world with any type of supernatural powers were welcomed here, where they could live a normal as a life could be for someone with powers. There the students could be taught by experienced former superheroes, and learn how to control their own abilities. In this school, no one had to worry about being an outcast for having powers. Yet still the brown haired teen couldn’t help but feel nervous. What if he was rejected? Not that it ever happened before, but there were always exceptions.

Had it been a week ago, he would have never even considered walking this close to the iron gates. Had it been a week ago, he would have not even been aware of is powers. Yet somehow the brunette found himself with a heavy duffel bag that held all his belongings in one hand, and a pamphlet about the school in the other, waiting for his guide to come get him. As more time ticked by, Liam found himself regretting his decision more and more.

Liam debated whether or not if it was to his luck or to his misfortune that he came across Zayn. The dark haired boy was the entire reason he was here in the first place. Had he not come across him, Liam would still be blissfully unaware of the powers that resided in him.

But then again, there was still a glimmer of hope for him in this new life. This new life promised him control, stability. It promised him people who could emphasize with him, of the feeling of exclusion and never belonging. It could explain to him all the odd occurrences in his past. Why he always seemed to suddenly feel depressed around people, and why they always suddenly started to feel happy. Why he would always get random attacks of pain when he was near injured people, and how they would suddenly start to heal. This school provided answers.

Liam is shaken out of his thoughts as a familiar voice call his name. “LIAM! Liam! Anyone in there?” In front of him is Zayn Malik, the reason why Liam was standing out alone in front of the school gates for so long, with a wide grin on his face. He must be his guide. “Great seeing you again. I’ll be your guide to the school since you already know me. Have you got everything?

“All I need, yes.”

“Ready to be a hero?”

“Ready as I’ll ever be.”

“Good attitude. Don’t forget it.”

Liam feels one of Zayn’s arms wrap around his shoulders and half-drags, half-pulls him to the school. He gestures at the building in mock fashion, and says “Welcome to Hero Academies, may your stay be satisfying and full of grand new beginnings!”
