[A/N] Sorry it took so long to update, Wattpad deleted half of my story, (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) so I had to rewrite it. Anyway, hope you like it. It's a bit longer than last time, as promised.

(Rose's POV)

Captain Jack Harkness was the first to come through. He was wearing camouflage clothes, war paint on his face and his usual giant grin. As soon as he stepped through the portal, he grinned at me ."Hi, there!" he said.

Let me fill you in.

A few minutes earlier, the Doctor had grabbed something off the console.

"What's that?" I asked.

The Doctor looked around at me. " Do you want the long or short description?"

"Short," I replied immediately.

He showed me the thing in his hands. It was what looked like a glass sphere, filled with swirling blue gas.

"This," he said, " is a portal."

"And the point of that is...?"

"You said you wanted to do something."

"So, how does it work?" I asked.

He started talking quite fast, walking around the console and flicking a few switches. I could hardly understand him.

"I've let a couple of people know that I've got this. I simply smash this glass ball, it turns into a portal and people are able to come through it. Into the TARDIS."

I gave him a disbelieving look.

"Well, I have to calculate what year each person is in. Which won't be exactly easy, because the fragment links haven't been hot wired and I forgot to supercede the binary-."

"So, what you're saying is that as simple as you make it sound, it is gonna be hard."

"Well, yes."

I was really excited. I wanted to ask who was coming, but he wouldn't tell me.

"You'll find out soon," he said, " It's a surprise."

"But I hate surprises!"

I sat on the console and watched the Doctor work. He saw me and shoved me off. "Not on there!" he said. I sat on the railing around the console. I loved when he worked. I watched the way his hands casually flicked a switch or turned a knob. I saw as he checked our coordinates and grabbed the hammer to bang on a few things. I watched when he got out his Screwdriver and Sonicked the screen. And I was in love with it all. And I wasn't going to tell him that. God, I wasn't going to tell him. I was in love with an ageless god. I could spend the rest of my life with him. But he couldn't spend the rest of his with me.

The thought just made me depressed, so I pushed it to the back of my mind.

"Done."

The Doctor's word jolted me back into reality. I looked at him and he looked at me.

"Allons-y!" he said. He smashed the glass ball.

Now, Captain Jack Harkness was here. I hadn't seen him in a while. It was great, him standing in front of me again.

Jack opened his mouth to say something. The Doctor stopped him.

"Don't."

"I was just saying hello!"

"Just don't."

Jack grinned and looked at the Doctor. "Permission?" he asked.

"Granted," the Doctor mumbled and swung the console screen around to check something.
