Chapter 14

Marinette P.o.v.

I got there as soon as she could. Everything looked fine but I had to be sure. I walked through the bakery door and didn't see them. They must be upstairs. She got upstairs and saw Danny.

Danny was slowly getting up, while holding his side.

"Oh good I found you."

"Yay for you. So why did Hawkmoth put people next to a bomb?" he said while holding his side that was still burning in pain.

"To scare us into giving up our miraculous, as always." Not a total lie. That was probably still his end game. I looked at him holding his side. "Are you okay, what happened?"

"My whole body is in pain after I'm guessing my clones were beaten." He winced. "Ugh. This pain is unbearable."

"Hawkmoth showed me a video of 'you dying' a bunch of times. I figured they were clones. I also hate to sound rude but were you able to find and destroy the bomb?"

"Nope. I checked the school, park, hotel, here and anywhere else where it might be and found nothing. So I don't know where else to look."

"So everyone who lives here is fine?" She tried hard not to make it sound personal but when anyone especially family and friends, were affected she couldn't help it. She was genuinely worried about them every time there was an attack that affected them in some way. Like Alya turning into Lady WiFi, the little girl she babysat, Manon who turned into the Puppeteer and even her own grandmother got akumatized.

"Don't know about that. I haven't seen them." he saw how worried I looked. "But uh, don't worry I'm sure they are fine." he grinned

I did not return the smile. "With Hawkmoth getting desperate, we don't know for sure. He did say my house specifically. Was it a lie in the end?" I thought I had said that part in my head and not out loud.

"Um...what do you mean your house?" Then something finally clicked in his head. "Marinette?" he said looking at me.

A look of panic must have flickered on my face for a second because I did not realize what I had said out loud. Tikki was going to kill me later. "I said this house not my house. My place isn't around here." I was a terrible liar. Please don't let him push further.

I'm not dumb you know, nor am I deaf. Don't worry I won't tell anyone if its a big deal for you."

I sighed and gave in."I'll explain everything I can later, but right now we need to find my parents. I have to make sure they are okay."

"From what Chat was telling me, we should wait on that because a lot of people are being turned into shadowy monsters by someone who was akumatized. I think for the moment we need to retreat. Let's head to the classroom and collect our thoughts there. We will take a few people who aren't akumatized there and then plan the next attack, because as it stands we aren't winning round one."

"I don't have time. He said I only had so many minutes." I glanced at the clock. "I have a about 5 minutes."

"Well, where did he say the bomb would be?"

"Here, but they aren't here and you said you found nothing. He must have been lying."

"Yeah I have a feeling he told you this for one of two reasons. one, he was lying to you about the bomb and your parents being in danger so he could figure out who you really were. Or he told you a lie to get you into a trap. I mean Vlad the villain I usually fight never lies to me and he is always honest about his attentions and all that stuff. When he says he is doing something he either does it or it's a trap set up for me that everyone starts blaming me for it."

"We've never dealt with Hawkmoth in the flesh. This was his first time coming out of hiding. He only has partial control of his victims. He can give them powers and take them away but that is about all we know of his power. We do have a theory on who he is in his normal life but we don't have full proof just yet"

"Who do you think he is?" Danny asked.

"I'll tell you everything later I promise, but we need to find my parents. They weren't down in the bakery and you said they weren't home. The market place perhaps? My papa loves fresh ingredients. I'll call Chat on the way." Before another word could be said I ran out the door.
