I arrived at my momma's church not too long ago to pick up Krystal. My mom had taken her to church this morning to show her off to all her church friends. She dressed Krystal up in a GUCCI pink embroidered tulle dress and pink GUCCI ballerina slippers to match. My baby girl was decked out. She had her Sunday best on for sure. I couldn't have her rocking anything less than the best. My mom had her hair in two ponytails. She was so adorable. Two of my momma's church friends surrounded her as we stood in the parking lot. They were completely obsessed with her. I couldn't blame them. My baby girl was perfect.
"Oh, my goodness, gracious. She's the cutest thing." Mrs. Beverly says smiling at Krystal as I held her in my arms. She was the pastor's wife and a good friend of my moms. My mom and I smile at Krystal who was just looking curiously at all these old people surrounding her. They were looking at her in awe.
My mom fixed her dress a little. You could tell my mother was excited and proud to be a grandmother. That's all she talked about nowadays was Krystal. She, of course, loved MJ equally but to know that Krystal was her flesh and blood made it official. She was legit a grandmother. She wanted to do everything with Krystal. She now was the apple of her eye. Krystal seems to adore my mom just as much as my mom adored her. We constantly butted heads over Krystal's time. We both wanted to spend so much time with her but we made it work.
"She just perfect, Joyce. Oh, and look at her little outfit. Is that GUCCI?" Ms. Gloria says viewing Krystal's outfit. Krystal plays with the many chains that dangle around my neck.
"My son works very hard." My mom says giving my skeptical eyes before smiling at Ms. Gloria.
"Oh, what is it that you do, Christopher?" Ms. Gloria questions.
Before I could say anything my mom speaks up. "He owns his own business." She says smiling at her. My mother had an idea of what I did although she didn't know feel details. The less that she knew the better. The amount of money that I was making she knew I was high in the ranks. However, I didn't think she realized how high up I actually was.
"Oh, nice. You know my grandson is looking for work if you have any positions open." She says with hopeful eyes.
"I actually don't Ms. Gloria, I'm sorry. We over capacity at the moment." I come up with a lie. Her grandson didn't have the mentality to survive in my line of work. I rather not have the streets taint his mind.
