but most importantly.... enjoy. ilu ❤️"You like this picture? Chris took it in portrait mode." I show Melanie the picture Chris took of me before we left the house. He said he needed a new lock screen and I obliged.
"Yes, you look so cute today. I love your curls." She smiles at me while we walk arm in arm through the mall.
"Thank you." I smile at her.
"School is starting for you in a couple of weeks. How are you feeling about it?" Melanie gleams over at me.
I tighten the grip we had on each other's forearms while smiling down at the ground momentarily. "I don't know, nervous kind of?" I chuckle timidly. I kept my focus in front of me as we wandered through the mall with Hood awkwardly walking ten feet behind us. Chris and Tyga were with the kids most likely buying up the entire Build-A-Bear store for them.
"Nervous about what?" Melanie inquiries before taking a sip of her smoothie before tossing it in a nearby trashcan.
"I guess... I'm worried about keeping up with the others. I don't want to feel average and right now I feel like I'm below that." I shrug as I twist my lips.
Over the past couple of weeks, I've spent any free time I had rigorously reviewing the syllabuses for all of my classes for the upcoming semester. Yet, it still wasn't enough for me to fully feel comfortable for my first day. I couldn't dedicate as much time as I wanted due to other responsibilities. I still had to take care of Krystal, finish another six months of my cosmetology classes, and still make time to spend with my family. I felt nothing but overwhelmed which in return made me feel less confident that I would be able to do this.
"You really underestimate how smart and strong you are." Melanie pulls a pack of gushers from her purse as if she wasn't sipping on a smoothie already. "Fun fact, I envied how you flawlessly passed school without even trying."
"Says the one who had a GPA of 4.0 in high school." I side-eye Melanie. She hardly missed a day of school, was head of the cheer team, and was declared salutatorian for our class. Every single college that she applied for she was accepted into. "Make it make sense."
