Rose's pov

Four hours of waiting, sitting in a barley lit room, alone. I stare at the ceiling once again, feeling the dried up tears on my face that I refuse to move my hands for.

I stare at my high heels by the door, and close my eyes. How did my life become of this.

I pull my legs to my stomach, laying my head on my knees. I put my head on the pillow next to me, looking back at the ceiling.

A quiet knock is placed on the door, and my head turns to look. My mouth stays closed and the door slowly opens.

"Hey, Rose" Jack says, peeking his head in the room, "I'm pretty sure it's time" he says, and I stare back at the ceiling.

He walks in the room, kneeling in front of me. He brushes my hair from out of my face, taking a deep breath.

"Hey, it'll all turn out okay soon, I promise you now" he says and I shake my head.

I slowly pull myself to sit up, and Jack walks to grab my shoes. He places them in front of me, and I nod my head in thanks.

I slip the heels back on my feet, zipping up the back. I stand up, rolling my eyes, walking out of the room.

The hallway light blinds my eyes, and I use my arms to cover my face. Jack guides me back to the familiar wood door and I sigh.

He grabs my hand and slowly rubs it. I throw him a weak smile, and he opens the door, revealing the court room again.

I look around to see Jason in his chair looking down at the floor. He stares up at me through his eye lashes and I look away.

Jack brings me to my seat, sitting next to me on the bench. My leg starts to shake and I bite down on my lip. Jack places his hand on my thigh, rubbing it softly.

"It's okay, it's almost over" he says and I nod my head. I look around the room at the people whispering to each other.

The jury walks back into the court room, and sits down. The judge soon walks in, and everyone stands.

The judge sits in the chair, and so does everyone else. He pulls down his glasses a bit, looking down at the tables. I bite down on my lip, as he looks back at the papers.

"Jason Drew McCann has been sentenced for 400 years in federal prison, with no visitors or bail" he says raising his eyebrows a little, looking over at Jason.

I taste the blood in my mouth as I look up at the back of Jason's head. His head leans back, looking up at the ceiling.

The judge gets up and leaves, and the people behind me all grab their things.

I feel Jack's arm wrap around my waist, as I sit in silence. He rubs my side for a few minutes, and my eyes meet Jason's head again.

His head slowly turns back, locking his eyes with mine. He takes in a deep breath, shutting his eyes, and turning around.

"I'll leave you alone" Jack whispers, before standing up, and walking away from me and to the front of the room.

A bunch of officers walk up to Jason, and he stands up. They all guide him to the wood door in the back corner. He turns back one last time looking at me.

He opens his mouth, and the officers push him out of the room before he can even finish his thoughts.

I look down at my bare legs, placing my hands on them. I pull up my right sleeve up a little looking down at the silver bracelet on my wrist.
