heather rang up all her friends to break the news to them.
she was moving across the country. in with her foster family, in fact. they lived in sunriver, oregon. a beautiful place if you ask me. sunny, warm, gorgeous.•••
they had all met at the quarry. the spot where all their relationships started, and were now being broken. heather's hands shook, she felt as if there was a whole nest of bees in her stomach, buzzing.
everyone stood in a circle, exchanging nervous glances with each other.
"i'm really going to miss you guys. i feel so bad that i have to move in the midst of all this. promise you guys will kill it? pinkie promise?" heather choked on her words, a huge lump was in her throat.
"we'll miss you too." eddie sighed.
"we promise." mike nodded.
heather motioned for them to have a group hug, and tears fell. they fell and fell until there was no more to let out. the choked sobs of the children was the only noise heard throughout the field.
"a-and if anything e-e-else happ-p-ens, we'll tell you, okay heather?" bill managed to get out between cries. heather nodded in response.
"if it gets bad, i'll find a way to get back here. i swear on my fucking life i would never leave you guys to die. even though that's technically what i'm doing now." the group giggled.
the first to let go was eddie, convinced he was going to get aids from that much human interaction. the next was stan, as he could no longer bear to hear his friends cry. after was mike, beverly, bill, and ben. richie tried to hold on as long as he could, but heather pushed him off softly.
they stood there awkwardly, exchanging glances with each other. ben was the first to leave, understanding he would most likely never see heather after this. the two gave each other one last hug, saying their final goodbyes.
stan gave heather a sweet side hug, squeezing her a bit. he admitted he would miss her, no matter how much he "hated her". she laughed, saying goodbye.
mike shuffled over to her, giving her a big bear hug. they both smiled into the hug, relaxing. they, too, said goodbye to each other as he walked into the distance.
eddie shook hands with heather, but she ended up pulling him into a hug. he tensed up and complained about the amount of germs she could possibly have on her. to make him squirm more, she kissed his cheek. he blushed furiously, as he had never been kissed by a girl. he simply waved goodbye, following mike.
beverly practically attacked her with a hug. the two had become very close in the time they spent together. it was going to be hard for them to part; they were like family to each other. they both started to cry a little more. they hugged for a long time, ending when their arms got tired. heather wiped her best friend's tears, telling her not to fret, she would hopefully be back. they hugged one last time before bev ran off.
bill approached the girl, hugging her as well. he silently sobbed into heather's shoulder, trying to make sure she wouldn't notice. they never wanted to let go of each other, savoring every last moment together. finally, heather let go, tears stinging at the back of her eyes, threatening to spill out. bill choked out a goodbye, hopped on silver, and rode away.
richie was the last to leave. he walked slowly to the younger girl. they stood next to each other, soaking in the last of each other's presences. heather was the first to turn, facing him. she cupped his face and kissed his lips. his eyes widened, but he soon kissed back. no one knew, but heather had a fat crush on the goofy boy. he obviously liked her back. almost as soon as they started, they parted.
"goodbye, ass glass." she smiled.
"bye babe."
they walked to their bikes together, but soon riding in opposite directions, never to see each other again.
