At some points, admitting that some things PROBABLY won't work out is a very wise choice full of bravery that may save us a lot of energy and time that could have been lost in excessive trying in vain. Those points are not necessarily the ones when you've been let down, they may be the ones when you thought you were at the top of everything until you suddenly realized you just stepped forward in hurry while everyone is still behind.
The illusion that our minds create blinds us from seeing the real scheme of things at the beginnings when everything and everyone is new, unknown and unpredictable. It's like a mechanism of optimism when the mind is trying to figure the image that suits BETTER the situation, avoiding likely every possibility of other temptation. It limits our perspectives until we believe what we see is the TRUTH while it's not. We often say « we only perceive the truth with a stable state of mind », it's true. You can't touch the frame if you're still in the painting. Go outside, check the sanity of its shape and then go back if you want.
