Three steps

    Three steps to be taken:
The first,
The one we fondly take,
With hope of finally finding what we deserve,
Letting our good side show up to sight,
Flaws better kept for last.

The second
The one of doubt and fear of rejection,
With tremblings and cramps of feet on the ground,
Hesitations to show or not the other side,
To release all of us and set it completely free or not .

The third,
The one we step back,
The one of disapproval,
Of disappointment,
Of self keeping.
Or,
The one we step forward,
Overwhelmingly straight,
The one of approval,
Of self giving.

We do our best to deny our imperfections,
To let them hidden away.
We act very well,
We fake power, strength to seek acceptance.
The half has never been enough.
Those who love us never consider us less than one.
We're ashamed by what people think of us,
Not by what we are.

This poem expresses the evolution we proceed in a relationship. When we first meet someone ( a friend, a lover, a totally new someone..) we tend to be good, polite. The time passes, our fond for them grows and we start to want to let them see our whole: the good and the bad, but we're afraid of their loss.
