Luna Finley's P.O.V.
"...and then he totally winked at me. I think he wants me." I heard a girl in front of me say to the girl next to her. I scrunched up my nose at the comments made after about what she would do to that poor guy. It is funny how girls can misinterpret situations with guys.
"That new kid is so hot!" The girl said to her friend.
New kid? We haven't had a new student come to Clearmont High in a year.
The lunch line I was in moved forward and I finally reached the food. It was your typical high school lunch food, sadly. I ended up getting a sandwich and an apple. After paying for my food, I scanned the cafeteria for an open table. I frowned slightly when I didn't spot one, so I decided I would eat outside. I turned on my heel to go to the exit, but I bumped into someone. The guy ended up spilling some of their drink on my jeans.
"I am so sorry I didn't see you there." The guy said to me. I haven't seen him around. He must be the new kid I've overheard those girls talking about.
"Don't worry about it. You can hardly tell that my leg is wet. It will dry soon." I replied and looked at my shoes. I have a habit of not making eye contact with people.
"I still feel bad for you though."
'That's a first.' I thought.
"Don't be, it's just water." I told him and looked up at him briefly.
He frowned slightly and nodded. "I'll see you around-"
"Luna." I told him.
"Well I will see you around, Luna." He said and smiled slightly before walking away.
I let out the air I didn't know I was holding and continued to walk as well. I exited out the cafeteria doors and went into the quad area. I sat next a tree in the shade since it is pretty warm out today. I unwrapped my sandwich and looked at it skeptically. I poked it and scrunched up my nose; the bread was stale.
'That's a no.' I thought as I set my sandwich down on the grass. I picked up the apple that was on my lap and rubbed it on my shirt.
I looked around the quad. Not many people were outside, and I have no idea why because it is beautiful today. Everyone was with a group of friends while I was alone. I didn't care much though, I have a tendency to push people away. After Jessa passed, I wasn't the same Luna Finley anymore. I mean, I am still the same person, I am just much more sad most of the time. Anyways, it's just weird not having that one person you can tell your thoughts and secrets to around anymore.

I got home from school later than I usually did; I walked home today. It was really nice outside. Okay, so maybe I walked because Astro invited the new guy over to our house today. I'm a little closed off to strangers; I always have been.
I opened my front door and smelled like something was burning. I coughed slightly and set down my backpack. I walked into the kitchen while holding my nose.
"What the heck is going on?" I ask my brother who is taking out burning cookies out of the oven.
"Noah and I were craving cookies, so we tried but failed at making them." Astro said as the smoke alarm went off. He cursed and grabbed a dish towel to fan under the alarm.
"Who's Noah" I asked and sat on the counter.
"The guy I invited over." He clarified.
'So that's the new guy.' I thought.
"Where is he now?" I queried.
"Bathroom."
I nodded and examined the burnt cookies. "How did you manage to burn these cookies?"
