{ CYRUS'S POV }

The boy that Buffy had told me is Tj, was now sitting across from me at The Spoon. His ice-blue eyes pierced anything in its path. As of right now, I was caught in that path. His eyes flickered around my face, studying me, and mine were doing the same. He had a nice bone structure to his face, blonde-ish hair that was styled back, and when he stood up, he was probably about 5 inches taller than me. When he wasn't talking, his lips sat in a frown.

"Thanks for letting me eat all of the tater tots."

"Of course" I smiled. Truth is, I wasn't even going to eat them myself. I've had so many tater tots throughout my life that I'm basically sick of them by now.

He reached into his pocket, shuffling for something, then his hand brought out a crumpled five dollar bill.

"Here, let me pay for them" he insisted, handing me the money.

"No, no, it's fine" I pushed the money away.

"I insist" he added.

"No, Tj, it's honestly okay" I started. "Save your money for something important, okay?"

He scoffed, then put the five dollar bill back into his pocket. "You're stubborn."

I shrugged.

Lately, everyone's been telling me that I'm stubborn. I mean, I agree with them.  I'm only stubborn because when I'm not, I get pushed around and told what to do, and I'm done letting that happen.

"I guess I am kind of stubborn, aren't I?" I sighed.

"Hey, I have an idea-" he whispered. "-so that neither of us have to pay for this food."

What?
I shot him a confused look.

"On the count of three, we are both going to walk out that door and not look back."

"I-I can't do that" I stuttered.

"Why not?" he asked.

"I would never be able to come back, if we got caught."

He put on a fake pouty face. "Aw, are you scared?"

Yes.

"No. Why would I be scared?" I lied.

"That's the spirit" he smiled. "Ready?"

I nodded, rapidly. My palms were sweating and my eyes focused on Tj, searching for comfort. I know this isn't that big of a deal, I mean it's five dollars worth of food, but I've never done anything like this in my life.

I guess there's a first time for everything.

"1, 2, 3!"

We both lifted ourselves up, and walked quickly towards the door.

"Hey! Did you pay?" a high-pitched voice squeaked from behind us.

"Don't look back" he whispered, tilting his head towards my ear so I could hear.

He pushed the door, holding it open for me to rush through. "C'mon."

The door slammed behind me and we ended up walking a block up the street.

The smile plastered on my face never left.

"That was exhilarating!" I cheered.

He let out a small chuckle, followed by a smirk.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it."

I peered up at him. I was right. He is about 5 inches taller than me. He peered down at me, smiling.
