[UNEDITED]
[ CYRUS'S POV ]
The date. Our perfect date.
Much like any first date, it was awkward, but it ended up being just what I had hoped for. The place, the time, the day, the boy. It was like something right out of a movie.
Before we knew it, we had spent all night laughing and talking about whatever came to mind. We spent the entire afternoon at The Spoon, up until closing time. Luckily, the entire time we were there, none of my friends happened to come in.
Well, not luckily. It's just that if Buffy or Andi had seen us just hanging out alone, they'd become suspicious and it's not like they get along with Tj too well in the first place.
Our walk home mainly consisted of long moments of silence and occasional glances at each other when the other person wasn't looking. When we finally reached my familiar red door, we paused in our tracks.
My eyes searched Tj for a sign of emotion that would tell me what he's thinking, scanning over his fidgeting hands and curious eyes.
"So- um- I- uh-had a great time today" he managed to let out in between his repetitive ums and uhs.
Whenever Tj randomly used filler words such as those, it was obvious that he was nervous.
"Yeah, me too" I replied confidently.
Tj's hand managed to reach itself up and behind his neck.
Another signature move to help cope with his nervousness.
"Cool" he stated while releasing a breath of air he had seemingly been holding for a while.
Cool?
"Okay, well, I should head inside-" I paused. "-my mom's probably worried about me."
Tj bit on his bottom lip.
His lack of response surprised me, forcing me to think of it as my cue to leave. As I pivoted towards the doorway, I felt a grip on my hand followed by a tug which forced me to face him.
His pull brought our bodies close together. His head tilted as his face inched closer to mine. His excessively-long eyelashes rested on his cheeks as he so desperately closed the gap between us.
He tasted of sweetness and chocolate.
Thank god for chocolate milkshakes.
The sound of our in-sync breathing filled the empty porch. His free hand cupped the side of my face, leaving me lifeless.
When we finally parted, our foreheads touched and our eyes struggled to meet, allowing the past 10 seconds to sink in.
"Couldn't let you leave without doing that" Tj whispered.
Our hands finally released their hold on each other.
"Goodnight, not-so-scary basketball guy" I smiled.
"Night Underdog" Tj smirked, shoving his hands into his pockets and turning to walk away.
As soon as I stepped into my rose-scented house, I was greeted by my mom.
"So, how was it?" she eagerly asked.
"It was good" I answered shyly.
My mom knew I had gone on a date, she just didn't know who it was with.
My mom crossed her legs, sitting up as she placed her wine glass on the table next to her.
"He seemed nice" she smiled.
