{CYRUS'S POV}

It's been about two weeks since my very first detention experience. I am now unofficially tutoring Tj in replacement for Buffy. Each time, we would laugh until we cried and there would be true happiness in the air.

I never thought I would actually enjoy tutoring someone, and I think Tj thought he would never enjoy being tutored by someone.

Tj was coming to my house this time, since I had no one to take me over to his. The house remained silent, with no one in it except for me.

My phone vibrated on top of the counter.

Tj: I'll be there in 10 mins :)

Crap. He's almost here.

I felt the panic rise in my chest, and I ran to my room. The large mirror on my wall reflected a nervous boy covered in old pajamas. Quickly, I picked up a black button-up shirt and a wrinkled pair of jeans. I sprinted to the bathroom, my socks sliding me across the floor as I stopped.

This is honestly the most exercise I've gotten in a long time.

My hand swept through my hair, trying to make it look presentable. I must've been fixing myself for a long time, because before I knew it, the doorbell rang.

Oh my god.

I sprinted down the stairs, jumping over the last two steps. I wiped my palms against my worn out jeans as I prepared to open the door.

Okay, breathe.

I swung the door open, revealing Tj. His eyes flickered up at me. A genuine smile peeked through his natural seriousness.

"Hey" his voice took the tone of something I had never heard, it was deep and strangely relaxing.

I stood there frozen, before moving out of the doorway to let him walk in.

"Wow" he mumbled, walking past me.

The door slammed behind me and I locked it instinctively.

"Your house. It's beautiful."

"Thanks" I squeaked.

"So, should we get to studying?" he questioned.

"Y-yeah" I answered. "-do you wanna study in my room or-"

"Your room's fine."

I felt a tingle cover my face, followed by heat.

Without a word, I walked up the stairs expecting him to follow behind. His heavy feet moved their way up the wooden steps, just behind mine. I pushed the door open to my bedroom, and my breath hitched when I remembered all of the posters on my walls.

Tj gazed at the scientific posters that hid the actual wall underneath them.

"Wow" he sighed.

I smiled at his admiration.

"-you really are a nerd."

My face immediately switched.

He laughed a hearty laugh. A laugh that could change the mood of an entire room.

"I'm just messing with you, Cy" he remarked, his eyes becoming something sympathetic.

I snorted at the overreaction I had.

I sat on the edge of my bed with my laptop on my thighs, leaving enough space next to me for the other boy. After grabbing his binder and a pencil from his backpack, Tj filled the empty space next to me.
