[ TJ'S POV ]

The date. Our date.

The day had finally come, after days of awkward confrontations discussing when and where we were going, we had finally decided.

The Spoon. It was perfect. It's casual but still a classic. We could feel comfortable there and not feel forced or uncomfortable. Plus, I knew that the both of us enjoyed spending time there.

We agreed to meet up there, and since it was so close to my house, I ended up walking.

For some reason, my palms began sweating and I started fidgeting nervously. I sat outside in the heat, waiting on a bench for the boy I wanted so desperately to show up. People began walking by, giving me a glance as they continued with their day. Instinctively, I reached for my phone, trying to avoid the looks I received.

Coincidentally, my phone vibrated, acknowledging the new text message.

Cyrus: Hey, just wanted to let you know that I'm running a few minutes late. Just get a table without me, I don't want you waiting outside.

I paused for a moment, thinking out my response.

Me: Okay, see you soon then.

Cyrus: I'm sorry, Tj. My mom's having me do a few chores first.

Cyrus: Looking forward to it tho (:

My heart sunk as my eyes travelled across the screen, processing each word.

Does his mom know? Does she know about us?

It's not like there's much to know, anyways. We're just two guys that kissed a few times and are now going on a date.

Just your average pair of guys.

Ugh. His mom probably does know. Which means someone other than us knows about us.

Someone other than us knows that I am going on a date with another boy.

Cyrus is the first guy I have ever been on a date with. I mean, he's definitely not the first person I've been on a date with. I've dated plenty of girls before, each relationship ending in a terrible breakup.

But never a guy.

I don't think I have ever felt this way about a guy.

All my life, it's always been girls. I've always only known girls. I didn't think that boys were an option for me.

Maybe everyone's an option for me.

I was so wrapped up in my new thoughts, that I found myself sitting at a table across from an empty booth.

Thankfully, there were no familiar faces in here today.

The small diner buzzed with laughter.

The laughter was interrupted for a moment, as the bell above the door rang. My eyes adjusted themselves on the door, finding the source of the noise. A familiar face lit up as it turned in my direction.
