{ TJ'S POV }
"I've been wanting to do that for a long time."
That was the last thing I said to Cyrus that changed our entire friendship.
What happens now? Well, I can tell you for a fact that nothing else happened after that kiss.
Cyrus kissed me back, which surprised me because I thought he was going to run away from me. I thought he was going to tell me that he still had feelings for Jonah or something.
I'm not sure about Cyrus, but that was my first kiss.
After the kiss, it was awkward and the tension was unbearable. I pretended to get a text from my mom saying I needed to go home now. I ended up walking home that night. I chose to walk home 2 miles just because I was too embarrassed to address my feelings.
As I was leaving, Cyrus sat still and in silence. His eyes pleaded for me to stay, and yet I still chose to leave.
God, I'm such a jerk.
He's too good for me.
He's way too good for me.The entire way home, I listened to my playlist on repeat through my earbuds. Each song forced me to think about Cyrus.
Cyrus. Cyrus. Cyrus.
Even when I got home, his name continued to bounce around in my head. I didn't get any sleep that night, or the night after that.
It was Monday morning now, and I woke up to the obnoxious sound of my alarm buzzing throughout my bedroom. The house hummed in silence when the alarm came to a stop. Every weekday, my mom left early in the morning to go to work, so I never saw her.
I forced myself through the process of getting ready in the morning. My eyes glanced at the clock, reading that it was 5 minutes until I get picked up. I ran my fingers through my hair, giving the illusion of effort. My outfit consisted of jeans and a blue sweatshirt.
A car horn honked just outside my house, and I ran out towards the noise, swinging my backpack over my shoulder on the way. As I sprinted towards the car, the familiar faces of my teammates expressed an emotion beyond exhaustion. The passenger seat and driver seat had been occupied by not-so-friendly seniors, which forced me to slide into the back seat. As I slammed the car door shut, my head turned to face someone I was unfamiliar with.
"Hey Kippen!" the driver shouted.
When he noticed the confusion that concealed my face entirely, he scoffed.
"Oh, right. That's Kaitlyn. Ethan's girlfriend."
I nodded, switching my eyes between the two lovebirds that sat to my left.
"Hey" the girl spoke. Her voice was soft, and peaceful. "I'm Kaitlyn, nice to meet you."
Her hand extended, taking up the few inches between us.
"Tj" I replied, shaking her hand.
"That's a cool name" she smiled, nodding as she took in the new information.
It had only been about a minute, and I could already tell that she was too good for Ethan.
The car began speeding down the freeway, racing its way to the school.
Moments later, Ethan's hands had found their way around Kaitlyn's waist, and their lips met. Throughout the rest of the ride, I had been bumped and shoved by the couple as they continued to make out. I shifted over as close as I could to the door of the vehicle. I pushed my mind to think of anything else other than the situation I was in right now, trying to make it less awkward for myself.
