He didn't look very angelic, nor did he have the normal angelic features. His skin was kissed by the fiery pits of hell, eyes nearly as dark as the night, and his chestnut curls rested over his shoulders as if to mock the ways of an angel. If it wasn't his features, surely it was all the leather and the ripped jeans that clothed him. Of course including the single cigarette that was held between his lips, the smoke gravitating towards my face.

We just stared at each other, mostly because he just appeared in my bedroom without any warning. But now he made himself at home, slouching in my office chair and his feet on my desk, the black boots crumpling up my drawings. I was too afraid to speak, my voice seemed to be non-existent once he appeared, in fear that this being might hurt me. Though my silence was enough to anger him since in a swift moment, his cig was out of his mouth and the smoke was fogging up my room, though I could see him put it out on the heel of his shoe.

"So...what, you just gonna stare at me, kid?" he huffed, leaning forward in my seat and flicking his dead butt on my desk.

I couldn't help my eyes from widening at his deep, rough voice, giving me even more reason to believe that he was no angel. I always wondered why I was the odd one out, all of my peers had their angels perched on their shoulders and carrying their books in the halls. My lack of a guardian made me an outcast and I always looked forward to the day my angel would come for me, but now, I wish that I waited longer for my guardian.

"Man, did bubs give me a fucking mute or something? the demon growled, glaring at me intensely. "Are. you. deaf?"

I momentarily flinched from his vulgar language before vigorously shaking my head and sputtered out a whimpered 'no', looking away from him absolutely embarrassed and still confused.

"Then speak up, kid." he grunted, "I ain't gonna bite. If you don't want me to."

I let out an uncomfortable chuckle and averted my gaze away from him, though he caught on to my uncomfortable gestures.

"I'm Victor," he grumbled, "the big guy's right-hand man. You can call me Vic, though."

I didn't know what to say to him, now I was boggled by the fact that not only was he a demon, but a very well respected demon at that. It made me wonder what he had to do to get to where he was.
