Night || Luke Hemmings

A couple days later, Jay Blue was released from the hospital. After spending the morning with her I walked home to an empty house. Dad is usually at work this time. I sighed walking upstairs and laying in my bed while thought filled my head.

Was everything okay? Not everything. Mom is still gone but I've told Jay Blue I love her. Before I could process any more thoughts there was loud knocking from the front door. I ran down and was greeted by Michael, Calum and Ashton.

"Hey," Michael said first and walked inside. Ashton pulled me into a hug and Calum patted my back.

"What brings you guys here?" I asked closing the door and shoving my hands in my pocket.

"Well, we heard your mom left. Sorry about that," I nodded towards their sympathy and walked in the living room. "But, I heard you told Jay Blue!" Before I could reply, Michael jumped on my back tackling me on the floor. Calum and Ashton jumped on too, making a dog pile and being crushed by their fat asses.

"I did." I said with barely any breath.

"What did she say?" I realized that she didn't say anything. We just kissed and I sort of knew she liked me, but probably not love me. The lads got off my back and watched me as I came up with an answer.

"Well, uh. We just k-kissed." I was scared what'd they say; what if they think Jay Blue is rubbish for not saying anything.

"Whoa, that says many things!" Michael laughed.

"Yeah," I said scratching the back of my neck nervously.

"wey hey, let’s get some ice cream!" Calum raised his fist as we nodded to his request. I locked the house and we walked down the sidewalk to the ice cream parlor located at the park.

We ordered our favorite ice creams cones and sat at the bench laughing with one another.

"You know, Beatrice said yes." Ashton said.

"No way!" Ashton laughed at Calum's reaction. Michael and I just laughed.

"Seriously! We have a date Friday," Ashton exclaimed licking his ice cream.

"Whatever. Hey look who it is!" Michael pointed behind me and I turned around to see the McLean’s. Jay blue rolled in her roller skates smiling. The smile I fell in love with.

She spun around until she saw us, and she waved. We raised our ice creams and she smiled, rolling over to us. My stomach grew in nervousness as she came closer.

"Hi," she greeted us.

"Hey," we replied.

"Um, Luke could I, uh. Talk to you alone?" I nodded my head and rose from my seat. Jay Blue held my hand, intertwining them. We walked but I turned around to see the boys laughing and giving me thumbs up.

Jay Blue stopped, and yet she was in roller skates, I was still a little taller than her.

"Luke, I wanted to tell you something."I nodded my head, licking my ice cream cone.

"Luke, I, in the hospital when you told me you love me. I didn't know how to respond so when you kissed me i regretted not telling you my feelings. So I guess, what I'm trying to say is i love you too." Her eyes clung to the ground but I smiled and threw my cone on the ground. I tilted her head up and I realized we were closer than I thought.

"I knew you love me anyways," I chuckled before cupping her face and pulled her lips closer to me. Her soft lips pressed against mine and I knew from that moment we were infinite.
