"That's it?" The stubborn young boy asked his grandfather.
"Well, what more is there to tell?"
"Did you marry her?"
"Yes." The old man rubbed his belly as he looked into his grandchild's face.
"Well, where is she?" The 10 year old boy was so eager to meet to love of his grandfather's life.
"Come with me." The old man stood and led them outside to the star lit night. He pointed to a bright star shining next to the moon.
"There she is." The old man said, a small smiles crept on his lips.
"She died?"
"Yes, after she gave birth to your dad." The boy nodded his head as if he understood.
"Did you love her?"
"I still do."
"You can't love someone who's dead." The boy said obnoxiously making the old man seem bitter.
"Todd, there are things in this world that can make us feel alive. That can make us feel love and death. Your grandmother is the love of my life, even if she passed twenty-five years ago. You can never let the flame go out if you still love that person." Todd said sorry to his grandfather after that. They went back inside for some hot cocoa and cookies. They sat on the couch and watched the old western movies.
"Grandpa," Todd said turning his grandfather's attention on him.
"I love grandma," he said that made his grandfather smile and his heart feel warm. He looked up to the ceiling as two tears dropped from his eyes.
"I love you too, Jay Blue."
[yes! I finished. even though not a lot of people read it, I'm still proud to call it mine. I know this all seemed sketchy but eh. Thank you for those you voted and read!]
