"My youth, my youth is yours. A truth so loud you can't ignore."
~~~Paisley's POV
Walking seemed a lot harder after detention. I stumbled in my apartment, with no doubt my face was beyond red. Peter just seemed to have that effect on me. I’ve known him since like 5th grade. I dragged my backpack with me to my bedroom and face planted on the bed.
I’ve been doing that a lot lately. I slid off my bed and to my art drawer. I pulled out paper and a pen, so that I could make some paper planes. It feels like I haven’t done it in forever. After about ten planes made, I felt a lot better.
I’m literally just walking awkwardness.
A creek and hushed whispering on my fire escape pulled me out of my thoughts. My head shot up and stared at the open window. The curtains were blocking my view, but deep down I knew who was out there.
A smile quickly overtook my face, drowning out any previous expression. I took a deep breath, and walked to the window.
I pushed my curtains to the side, to see Spidey on my fire escape. His back was toward me, and he had his hands were on the back of his neck.
“I don’t know what to do, Karen! What if she thinks I’m weird or a creep for coming to her window?” He harshly whispered. I had to cover my mouth to keep from bursting out laughing.
“Who’s Karen?” I asked. Spiderman let out a yelp and jumped around.
“How long have you been there?” He asked.
“I could ask the same question.” I retorted. He held his hand up as if he was about to reply, but decided against it. He shrugged and dropped his hand.
“Want to come in?” I asked, hoping not to be rejected. He nodded and ducked in through the window. I picked up the planes and headed over to the window.
I felt Spiderman staring at my every move, which tends to make a girl pretty nervous.
I held the plane up, and then sent it into the sky. A smile overtook my face, completely forgetting that someone was in my room.
“Why do you do that?” Spiderman asked, causing me to jump. Told you, I forgot he was in here.
“Do what?” I asked.
“The paper airplanes.” He answered. I bit my lip as I tried to form an answer.
“I think that… well— sometimes we need to be reminded of the simple things. Like love, and laughter. And that’s what I try to do.” I looked up at him, not completely sure if my answer made sense. He probably thought I was weird now, if he hadn’t thought so earlier.
“That’s awesome.” He stated. I blinked back in surprise, obviously not expecting that answer.
“Cool.” I smiled.
“Ah frick!” Shouted Spiderman. Somehow, we ended up in a nest of pillows and blankets in my living room, playing Mario Kart. I let out a wicked laugh as I drove pass his crashed car. We had decided to wait for the Thai food I had previously ordered, by playing a game.
And out of all the games I owned, he picked Mario Kart. Which happened to be the game I was a boss at.
“I am the reigning queen of Mario Kart!” I exclaimed, as I crossed the finish line in first place. I practically feel Spiderman pouting as he pulled in at seventh place. I did a little victory dance before turning to stick my tongue out at him.
I laughed when I heard him start to mutter under his breath.
“Wanna do another round, Spidey?” I asked excitedly, ready to win again. I literally am boss at Mario Kart. I saw the white part of his mask dilate, making it look like he was glaring at me.
“Fine… one more round.” He said. I exerted a small whoop, before clicking on my favorite map: Mushroom Gorge. I was slowly gaining higher ranks on the game as the laps continued on. I decided to take a risk and jump on the taller, but smaller mushrooms in the cave.
Spiderman, that little screen-peeker, saw me heading up the mushrooms— and decided that it was the perfect time to bump his shoulder with mine. I watched in horror as my car drove straight off the mushroom, and into the dark depths of the screen.
“You cheater!” I screeched.
“I didn’t do anything.” He chuckled. I couldn’t bare the smugness radiating off him, causing me to rip the controller out of his hand, driving him straight into a ditch.
“Who’s the cheater now?” He exclaimed. Spidey reached back for his remote, causing me to jolt back.
“No way, Jóse!” I pulled the controller farther back from him. He got to his knees and reached over, determined to get his remote back. His hand latched on but I wasn’t ready to face my defeat.
He pulled on his controller, which had also pulled me forward. I knew he was going easy on me with his strength—I have heard the tales from Ella, that he had held a ferry together with his own two hands.
“Give it back!” He whined. That had caused me to burst out laughing.
“Never!” I cried. I suddenly yanked on the controller, which he had obviously not expected. I leaned back, but later let out a yelp as I tripped over a pillow. Taking the controller, and Spiderman with me—I collapsed onto the nest.
He had landed on top of me, with one hand on the floor by my waist, and most of his body weight resting on his forearm by my head. The rest of his weight was balancing on his knee, which was resting between my own thighs.
Okay, this just got awkward, but I should probably just play it off. I heard the little tune of the after-race, causing me to look at the screen. I pulled my bottom lip up in a pout, seeing that Spiderman and I had tied for last place.
“You made me lose.” I looked back up at him, still pouting. The whites of his mask were huge, showing that his eyes had just widened. I tilted my head at him, confused to why he was still just resting there. I’m sure my face was beyond red by now, which wasn’t helping me play off the awkwardness.
The doorbell suddenly rang, causing me to jump, and Spiderman to scramble off me.
“The Thai food is finally here~.” I sang as I clapped my hands together. I turned from him, trying to cool down my blazing cheeks. Thank God for Thai food.
Yay! I loved writing this chapter, it was just so cute! I hope all enjoyed. Okay, but on another note, I am freaking out about Infinity War! I saw the newest trailer and was screaming for our precious honeybun.
"Oh, we're using our made up names... Then I am Spiderman."
I laughed so hard.
