(n.) an obsession with words
"We should probably get going soon." You uttered suddenly and everyone looked in your direction confusedly, "I mean- I want to stay here too, but what about the villagers on Berk? There will certainly be panic spreading because their chief is missing and they have no idea where he might be."
You bit your lip, regretting ever speaking up because now everyone was just staring and not saying anything. "Uh, I shouldn't have said that, sorry." You gave a sheepish laugh and felt your cheeks warming up, embarrassment spreading on your face.
"No, you're right." Stoick's loud voice boomed as he got up, "Let's get ready to go."
Your eyes landed on Valka who looked uncertain. She definitely wasn't ready for leaving, she wasn't prepared to leave the place she called home for twenty years, she doesn't want to leave all the dragons she helped to rise. Everyone was on their feet except Valka, Stoick noticed this and sat next to his wife again.
"Val?" He whispered and cupped her cheek with one hand, Valka instantly melted in his touch and nested her head on his hand. She gave him an apologetic smile and let her eyelids drop. The sight of them was sweet so you walked away to give them privacy and a moment to talk, you heard footsteps other than your own so you turned around just in time to see Hiccup catch up and walk alongside you. It was a bit confusing because you thought he would stay and try to convince his mother to join or something, but here he is next to you.
Nonetheless, you grinned, being happier just by his presence alone. Other thrumming steps echoed from behind and in a second Toothless and Crystal rushed past both of you and chased each other. Hiccup and you looked at one another and burst into laughter right away.
"I bet Ruff and Tuff made a missing person poster by now." You joked, just now remembering about your friends back in the edge.
"No doubt about that." Hiccup replied with a broad smile.

Nearly an hour passed till Stoick and Valka finally appeared in eyesight. And after that the journey back to home proceeded, albeit Valka still looked back at the nest a couple of times. You frowned thinking how hard it must be for her, but she had another worry on her sleeve as well because you heard her ask Stoick what would happen if people don't like her back on Berk.
You wanted to comfort her saying that the transition would go smoothly, but figured she won't need your help because she already has her husband by her side and that was certainly enough. Instead you let your thoughts wander as you gazed at the wondrous scenery in front, with all the reds and oranges surrounding the descending sun. Soon the icy glaciers began to disappear behind and the familiar churning sea came into view.
For once the trip wasn't filled with over-thinking about everything, it was peaceful and calm. You finally had the opportunity to enjoy the landscape and not care about anything else.
But landing on Berk was anything but calm. As the vicinity of the village was slowly getting closer, you saw the poor villagers scampering everywhere and even though you couldn't hear anything, you could tell that some were shouting and having a wild quarrel. As you suspected the village was full on panicking, so you figured them seeing you land first wouldn't be a good idea and that being said, you told Crystal to fly back behind the chief.
Skullcrusher's loud landing made everyone silent and their eyes focused on the chief. But when another unexpected and never before seen dragon set foot on the ground the villagers froze and each and every one of them had a look of extreme shock.
