"Trinity, I'm home! Help bring groceries in!" Mrs. Brooks called. "Yes, mom," Trinity yelled down the stairs as she came out of her room. Trinity spent most of her time in her room drawing. She always hung her drawings up in her small room and now that she was fifteen, her walls had almost no space left. Her mom was rarely home, so she was used to waking up to an empty house, going to school, and then being alone at home for at least four hours. Her mom usually came home late and never mentioned where she was or what she was doing. Trinity ran down the curled staircase and jumped off the last step. She walked out the open door to the car where the trunk was open and stuffed with groceries.

Trinity asked as she always did, "So mom, where have you been all day?"

"Just out and about," she replied.

"Great," Trinity thought, "the same answer as always."

After all the groceries and supplies were in, Trinity got the "honors" of putting everything away, while her mom went up to her room. "Bread goes on the counter, bananas in the bowl, soup in the fridge, cleaning supplies under the sink..." Trinity mumbled. Finally, everything put away except for a giant case of water bottles. She picked it up with a struggle and started for the washroom. She was almost there, as she went down the long corridor leading the way, when she lost her balance and put her hand on the wall to support herself, except the wall didn't stop her fall. Her hand went through the wall and she fell into darkness.

"What the...?" Trinity said as she got up, put down the heavy case, and moved her brown curls out of her view. It was pitch black, but her brown-green eyes adjusted quickly. "A staircase?" She looked down, but she was too far away to make anything out. She slowly started down the creaky stairs one at a time. When she got to the bottom, she outstretched her arms in search for a light switch, which she quickly found to her left. The room slowly lit up around her, revealing old boxes, books, and papers stacked up and covered in dust. "What? Since when do I have a basement?" Trinity walked over to the first box. It was about the size of an ordinary shoe box. She slowly opened it and to find a small, colorful stuffed animal monster. She carefully opened the next one to find another stuffed animal monster, except this one was purple and only had one giant eye. "Why are there plush monsters down here? Why do I not remember them? Come to think of it, I've never had a monster before." Trinity pondered as she slowly picked up the colorful one and observed it.

"Trinity? Where are you?" Her mom called from upstairs.

"Oh no..." Whispered Trinity. She ran up the stairs not even stopping to turn off the lights, and ran through the wall leading back to the empty corridor. She quickly ran into the kitchen where her mom was standing. Her mom suddenly gasped and Trinity realized she was still holding the plush monster.

"Trinity Emma Brooks, where on earth did you get that!?"

"We have a basement? How come you never told me?"

"Somethings are just not worth mentioning," said her mom as she snatched the plush monster out of Trinity's hand. "Now go to your room!"

"But mom-"

"Go!"

"I-"

"Now!"

Trinity ran up to her room, closed the door, and flopped on her twin sized bed. She fell so hard, that she almost rolled off. She laid on her purple and blue tie-dye comforter and she stared at the ceiling for a few moments. Her green curtains around her window danced in the wind and she remembered she had left the window open. She got up and slammed it shut in frustration. She walked over to her desk, which was opposite of her bed and sighed. "What the heck just happened? I mean, I'm more confused then anything else. Tomorrow's gonna to turn out badly, I just know mom is not gonna let this go. Well, what's the worst that could happen? I better start my homework. That will help get mind off of this....weird situation." Trinity sat down at her desk and began her homework. She had everything done except for her math when she fell asleep against her book.
