Trinity walked into the school half awake. She stumbled and lost her footing. She would have slammed into her locker if Eric hadn't steadied her.

"Are you okay?" Eric asked concerned.

"I- I think so," Trinity stuttered with her hand against her forehead. She looked up and her vision cleared, displaying his blue-green concerned eyes. She realized she was smiling when he smiled back.

"I don't want you stuttering. You can leave when you stop."

"Iwasn'tstuttering," the words ran out of her mouth as if one word.

"Better, but slower," Eric laughed. His laugh rang in her ears and made her heart pound.

"I," Trinity smiled, "was certainly not stuttering." Each word came out slow and loud.

"Good. See was that so bad?" Eric asked as he released her arm.

"I guess not," Trinity blushed.

There was a small silence before Eric cleared his throat.

"So um anyways, why did you look so tired?"

"I don't know. I laid in bed for the fist five hours of the night, but sleep never came. I think my bed has something against me," Trinity told.

"Weird. I didn't know beds could think on their own, never-less keep you from sleeping," Eric admitted.

"They do! I don't know why people don't believe me," Trinity complained while rubbing her eyes. James walked up to them with a smile on his face.

"Trinity's bed has something against her," Eric chuckled.

"Yes, it most certainly does," Trinity confirmed.

"Well then. Isn't that interesting," James chuckled. Vanessa and Kyrin ran up from down the hall out of breath.

"We-finally- foundyouguys!" Kyrin tried.

"Where did you look?" Eric asked, "we're kinda in the middle of the hallway..."

"Well, we checked your first period classes," Vanessa stated.

"Ok, well what's the rushed?"

"There's a pop quiz in Mr. Syac's class," Kyrin sighed.

"What!? No, I'm gonna fail it," Eric whined.

"Why? You're good at English," James pondered.

"Because the other day, I accidentally hit his car... With a baseball," Eric mumbled.

"Wait, that was my fault. Why'd you take blame?" James sounded angry.

"Because I didn't catch it and I felt bad and he was right there. What was I suppose to do? Throw you under the bus?"

"Can someone please explain," Kyrin spoke up.

"We were leaving after one of James's baseball practice and he forgot his baseball on the field, so he ran back. I told him to toss it over the fence to the parking lot. It was a perfect throw and I missed it. It flew back and crashed through Mr. Syac's windshield," Eric explained.

"Oh," Vanessa quietly agreed, "that man can hold some long grudges. I'm sorry, Eric."

"Here goes failure," Eric winced.

. . . . . .

The bell rang just as Eric came running through the double doors. Jade hall was unusually packed since the library was closed.

"Guys! I passed!" Eric yelled, running up the rows.

"What'd you get?" Trinity wondered aloud.

"A hundred!" Eric exclaimed. He showed them his quiz. On the top, a red penned note was next to the grade.

"It says, 'Eric, I wanted to thank you for manning up about my car. It was very mature of you to admit instead of blaming it on someone else. Here is your well deserved grade.' Isn't this great?" Eric danced around.

"That's great, Eric," Trinity said sincerely. A huge smile spread across his face. After a moment, they both looked down.

"Trinity, what did you get?" James asked.

"I got a ninety-seven. All the classes here are ahead of where I was at my old school."

"But a ninety-seven isn't bad," Eric frowned.

"I catch on quickly," Trinity shrugged. After a minute, Eric went on talking to James. Vanessa turned and started talking to Kyrin. Trinity sat for a minute before moving towards the brothers.

"Do you think she-" Eric stopped talking when Trinity moved over next to them.

"Hey, Trinity," James greeted with a welcoming smile.

"Hey," she returned it. Eric looked a little uncomfortable and was obviously trying to hide it.

"Do you do any sports?" James questioned.

"I used to play softball. I stopped when I first went into high school."

"Cool! You already know I play baseball," James glanced at Eric.

"What about you, Eric?" Trinity asked, catching him off guard.

"What?"

"Do you do any sports?"

"No, but I can play about anything. Football, basketball, lacrosse, you name it," Eric rushed his hand through his hair.

"That's cool," Trinity smiled. They talked until the bell rang dismissing them to lunch. Trinity followed Kyrin up to her locker.

"Hey Kyrin, do you think Eric likes me?" Trinity asked, fumbling her fingers.

"Why would you think that?" Kyrin questioned.

"I don't know. It's just every once and a while I catch him staring at me."

"Well, I'm sorry to break it to you, but to catch someone staring at you, you have to be staring at them," Kyrin laughed. Trinity seemed to be thinking it over the rest of the day.
